Given the continuing popularity of the Real Housewives franchise, Bravo recently decided to expand its reality base and introduce two fresh locations in Potomac and Dallas. With the former set to premiere in only a few months time, there is still a lot to learn about the cast members who will be featured in the new locations. With that in mind, here is a short introduction to Real Housewives of Potomac’s Katie Rost and Karen Huger.
According to Bustle, one interesting element to the new series is the fact that the ladies of RHOP are all important figures in the African-american community, which is only a few miles away from Washington, D.C. This holds true for Rost, who was educated at a private school in D.C. and went on to receive a degree in Journalism from Boston University’s College of Communications.
In addition to her modeling career, Rost also has experience working on TV. In fact, as a teenager, Rost made an appearance on Teen Summit and had her very own segment on Direct Access with Big Tigger, which aired as part of The CW syndication.
As far as her personal life is concerned, Rost is the proud mother of three children – James Rocco (3) and twins Kathryn and Renee (14 months). Rost recently posted a cute pic of her kids on Instagram outside of a Jewish church.
“Yay, my baby girls got their Hebrew names today #mazeltov #proudmom,” she wrote alongside the image.
Lastly, Rost is very active when it comes to supporting charitable organizations. She is currently involved in The Ronald F. Rost Charitable Foundation, which was formed to honor her father, who died back in 2000. The organization’s goals are to create more opportunities for the younger generation and promote a greater interest in the community.
In contrast to Rost, Bustle reports that Real Housewives of Potomac star Huger had a fairly normal upbringing, and her appearance on the show is the first time she will be in front of a camera. Additionally, Huger’s main job is as a real housewife, and she has been described as being similar to Luann de Lesseps.
Huger’s family dynamics are expected to be a major storyline during the first season of the reality show. In particular, Huger’s daughter is on the verge of setting out for college, leaving Huger and her husband an empty house to manage for the first time in years.
Meanwhile, in regards to her upbringing, Huger was actually raised on a farm in Spring Grove, Virginia. Although it is not known what kind of degree she got in college, Huger did enroll at the University of Virginia.
Despite her country upbringing, Huger loves to throw a good party. In fact, whenever she hosts these elegant events, she often spared no expenses and creates an environment where most of the drama on the show is expected to unfold.
Fans can learn more about Rost and Huger when The Real Housewives of Potomac premieres in January on Bravo.
