David Letterman Gives Justin Bieber Some Grampa Advice About Tattoos [Video]

Justin Bieber made an appearance on The Late Show last night and got a pretty decent metaphorical spanking from host David Letterman.

Letterman didn’t seem to be in the best of moods, and though he’s not exactly well-known for toting kid-gloves with his guests, he tore the Biebs a new one for his tattoo and an ignorant remark about the painting of the Sistine Chapel, reports TMZ. Bieber got a new tattoo on the inside of his forearm in honor of the release of his album Believe. Letterman caught a glimpse of the ink and asked, “Oh God, how many do you have?” Biebs said he only has a couple, but Letterman shot back pretty harshly: “Tell me that’s the last one…. Honestly, how does that help how you look?” Biebs, clearly confused by the barrage, replied, “It doesn’t not help how I look.”

From here, things just got awkward. Letterman grabbed Bieber’s arm, saying “Get that off there,” reports the LA Times. Bieber fought back, eventually prying away from Letterman. According to the Washington Post, the host went on a tirade as well, admitting that he worries about the 18-year-old pop sensation, advising him to become a full-fledged U.S. citizen so that he can participate in the voting process, and telling him that he should think about going to college.

Huh?

“Don’t go nuts [with the tattoos]… because more and more you see like the mural… like the Sistine Chapel, it’s too much,” said Letterman. “I’m not going for the Sixteenth Chapel,” replied Bieber. Oops. “Canadian high school,” Letterman quipped. At this point, Bieber looked like he’d like the hell off the show as soon as possible.

So Bieber might be a little sour on Letterman now and may avoid appearing on The Late Show in the future. To Letterman’s credit, he did apologize to Bieber for being a bit “too snappish” with him.
