‘American Horror Story’ With Lady Gaga Continues Its Scary Decline

Lady Gaga was supposed to breathe new life into the American Horror Story season. Every newspaper and website hyped her performance up as if it was the best thing since sliced bread. However, judging by the ratings, it seems as if people miss Jessica Lange. The ratings for the show (although still pretty high) have been declining week after week, and Wednesday’s episode is no exception. Headline Planet has the news.

“Back after a Thanksgiving Week hiatus, FX’s ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ posted live+same-day lows in adults 18-49 and total viewership. Per Nielsen cable data, the episode drew a 1.20 adults 18-49 rating and 2.310 million total viewers.”

Headline Planet adds that the numbers fall behind the 1.41 rating and 2.637 million viewership total posted by the previous episode on November 18. Despite this, surprisingly, Billboard declared this season to be AHS‘s most successful and they hinted it was because of Lady Gaga. Commenters after the article, however, weren’t taking it.

“While the ratings haven’t been disastrous, they have gone downhill and Gaga has received mostly bad reviews. I don’t dislike Gaga, but I’m sick of PR being paid for in an industry magazine,” says Allison Ornela.

“I am a huge AHS fan and a (somewhat) big Lady Gaga fan. Please, Billboard let’s not lie here. The show this season as well as her appearance (which isn’t as bad as some people say) has failed,” says Paul Cenerros.

It’s not likely that Billboard can change the opinion on Twitter for AHS: Hotel

However, there have been people that have defended this season of American Horror Story, as well as Lady Gaga’s performance.

Despite all the negativity of American Horror Story, the show has been renewed for another season. Variety has the news.

“‘American Horror Story’ has been renewed by FX for a sixth installment set to debut in 2016, Variety has learned. The upcoming round of the anthology series has yet to land a theme or title. The renewal comes in the midst of ‘American Horror Story: Hotel,’ the fifth installment of the award-winning phenomenon, which is currently airing Wednesday nights.”

Variety adds that American Horror Story has become the most watched show in FX’s history. The show has really defined the horror genre for television and has broken boundaries when it comes to television sexuality, television gore, and just about everything else. No matter how much people insult the show now, nobody can deny how groundbreaking AHS was when it debuted.

Lady Gaga has been asked to appear in next season of AHS, but there has been no word yet on whether or not she has accepted. The newly-engaged star has been working on her upcoming album, the follow-up to 2013’s commercially disappointing ARTPOP. Despite the AHS: Hotel failure, 2016 is going to be a great year for Lady Gaga and her “Little Monsters.”
