John Travolta Sued For Libel Amid Gay Sex Claims

John Travolta and his attorney are facing a libel lawsuit from a man who wrote about alleged gay encounters with the Travolta, the latest setback for the embattled actor.

The book’s author, Robert Randolph, said that Travolta and his attorney Martin Singer spread false rumors about his mental health two years ago in a bid to discredit the book, Reuters reported. Randolph is seeking unspecified damages in the legal action, which was filed in Los Angeles.

Travolta’s lawyer lashed out against the suit, saying it originated from a private letter that does not fall under the definition of libel, Reuters reported. Singer said he intended to turn the action back on Randolph.

“We intend to sue the attorneys for malicious prosecution after the court promptly dismisses this baseless lawsuit,” he said in a statement.

In Randolph’s book, “You’ll Never Spa in This Town Again,” he alleges that Travolta was known to have sex with men in various bathhouses. Randolph also claims he was one of Travolta’s partners.

A representative for Travolta said the lawsuit was absurd and would be promptly thrown out by the court. The representative also doubled down on claims that Randolph suffered from brain damage, Hollywood Reported stated.

“To evaluate the credibility of Robert Randolph and his ridiculous lawsuit one need look no further than his own statements published on his website stating that he sustained “permanent brain damage” and had to “retrain” his brain,” the representative said in a statement sent to Hollywood Reporter. The representative went on to say, “Mr. Travolta will aggressively defend himself against this lawsuit and expects to be fully vindicated when this meritless case is dismissed.”
