Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly And Megyn Kelly Deal With Planned Parenthood Controversy

The murders that took place at a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado Springs may have caused a backlash on right wing politics and rhetoric, but Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly aren’t backing down. On his show Monday evening, Bill O’Reilly tried to steer away the criticism and made it all about a disturbed individual.

“Dear is a long-time malcontent who has had problems wherever he has lived. Unfortunately in a free society disturbed individuals like Dear run unchecked and so we have to report murder after murder after murder.”

O’Reilly then noted that Planned Parenthood officials were blaming the killings on the harsh criticism directed towards the organization after videotapes exposed the sales of aborted baby body parts. However, O’Reilly said that the criticism aimed towards Planned Parenthood was legit.

“It’s long past time that political zealots stop using heinous crimes to advance their ideology,” O’Reilly angrily said, commenting on those on the left who are using this crime to show how out-of-touch Republicans are.

On her show last evening, Megyn Kelly went through the same themes. She showed video clips of Planned Parenthood supporters blaming the shootings on a white man who didn’t want change and others calling for anti-abortion believers to stop their rhetoric. She had Family Research Council President Tony Perkins, whose own organization was a target for shootings, on her show and noted that his organization was a target for gunmen as well. Perkins said that nobody asked the left to tone down their rhetoric after the violence took place at his organization.

Kelly had Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina on to talk about the blame and vitriol aimed her way after the recent Planned Parenthood attack.

“Well, you see Megyn — this is what the left wing does. They demonize the messenger when they cannot take the message. I haven’t used hyperbolic rhetoric about Planned Parenthood; I’ve spoken the truth and I will continue to speak the truth.”

Fiorina added that she didn’t hear Obama condemn people on the left who were calling for the death of police officers, chanting “Death to the pigs, we fry pigs like bacon.”

Megyn Kelly then told Carly Fiorina that she, in particular, had become a target because of a claim she made at a CNN debate about seeing a live baby being kept alive so its organs could be harvested. Kelly noted that it wasn’t factually established that this is something Planned Parenthood had done.

“No, the reason why they are where they are at with me is because I’m Hillary Clinton’s worst nightmare. Because I am a conservative woman who stands up for life,” Fiorina answered with emotion.

The Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs has upset many Americans on both the left and right of the political isle and has sparked conversations about abortion, women’s rights, terrorism, race, and other issues. Despite the shooting, the vitriol against Planned Parenthood has continued on Twitter.

Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly have pointed out — several times — how deluded the shooter Robert Dear was in his murder spree at Planned Parenthood. Expect this to be a continuing topic of debate on both O’Reilly and Kelly’s upcoming shows.
