Christie Brinkley Stuns In A Bikini At 61

Christie Brinkley is still rocking a beach-ready body! The 61-year-old former supermodel recently raised eyebrows with a couple of Instagram pics — one on the beach, one at the Empire State Building — showing her looking flawless in a bikini and in an ultra-short miniskirt, respectively.

As ET Online reports, Brinkley was vacationing at the beach recently when a chunk of driftwood caught her eye. She posed for a pic, posted it on Instragam, and it “got a little attention,” as Christie says, putting it mildly.

“So excited to make something special with the driftwood I just found (under my foot).”

Brinkley said she has a good reason for staying healthy and fit at her age: her three children.

“Being a mom is the No. 1 reason I want to eat right and be healthy and exercise. I want to be able to do things with my kids, and enjoy the things that they love doing.”

Christie’s old child, Alexa Ray Joel, now 29, followed in her father Billy Joel’s footsteps and became a singer-songwriter. Her son Jack, 20, from her brief mid-90’s marriage to real estate developer Richard Taubman, wants to be an actor.

“My son [Jack] just graduated from 18 months of Actors Studio. He interviewed with four of the top agents. They all wanted him.”

And Brinkley’s youngest child, 17-year-old daughter Sailor (from her marriage to Peter Cook), wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps and be a model — after she finishes college.

When she’s not helping her kids get into college, Christie Brinkley has been known to make appearances at charity events. As the Daily Mail reports, Brinkley was in New York on Tuesday for a Smile Train (a charity that performs facial surgeries on needy kids) event at the Empire State Building. Christie, rocking an ultra-short miniskirt, had to contend with a rather annoying breeze.

“I’m Blown Away by @smiletrain and the life altering work they do! Please join us by checking out my Smile Kit on Christiebrinkleyauthenticskincare.com $59.00 of our $79.00 kit goes right to Smile Train for cleft repair surgeries that give kids the smile they deserve.”

Speaking to the Huffington Post in November, Christie talked about how women suffer from body image problems.

“If I could say something to my younger self or to my daughters, I always try to say, ‘You know, we’re always so concerned about what ‘they’ think or what ‘they’re’ going to say. Well, who is that, ‘them’? Who are we referring to?’ Because basically, it’s up to us to set our own standards of what’s right for us and be leaders, and not be under this pressure of thinking that we need to fit in to something that maybe we’re not meant to fit into. Maybe we’re meant to be leaders and set examples.”

She also noted that the modeling industry, which shoulders its share of blame for promoting unhealthy and unattainable standards of beauty, is starting to recognize that women’s bodies come in all shapes and sizes.

“I think that my industry has come a long way, although we’re still a little too appreciative of the super, super unhealthfully skinny body. People’s bodies come in every shape and size, and I really believe that all shapes and sizes should be celebrated as long as that’s your natural, healthy weight.”

Besides having a decades-long modeling career, Christie Brinkley has also made appearances on TV (including guest spots on Mad About You and Parks and Recreation), performed on Broadway (appearing as Roxie Hart in Chicago), developed her own fragrance and a jewelry line, and built a financial empire through real estate holdings in New York’s tony Hamptons area worth an estimated $80 million.

These days, Brinkley is carving out a career for herself as a writer. In November, she released New York Times bestseller Timeless Beauty.
