Is Holland Taylor’s Lady Love Sarah Paulson? Actress’ Young Girlfriend Is Talking Marriage
As the world just barely grows accustomed to actress Holland Taylor’s public admission that she’s gay, rumors are swirling that the younger woman in her life is another well-known actress.
And that actress is American Horror Story leading lady Sarah Paulson. But to be clear, neither Holland nor Sarah have confirmed that they’re dating.
Taylor is 72, and Paulson — who has been open about her sexuality, which she’s defined “fluid,” the Daily Mail noted — is a much younger 40.
In her surprising reveal about her sexuality, Holland also talked a bit about this unnamed girlfriend — in rather vague terms, ET Online reported. Without naming the woman, Taylor called her the first love of her life and someone she is seriously considering marrying.
“I feel very very shy of it. Most of my relationships have been with women and I don’t like talking about them because I don’t like talking about the politics of it all because I’m not political about it. I’d like to be able to just say that, without having to stop and say, ‘So have you come out?’ No, I haven’t come out because I am out. I live out.”
There is scant, but convincing, evidence to suggest that Holland’s main squeeze is indeed Paulson, who previously dated another older actress, a 59-year-old woman named Cherry Jones. They were an item from 2004 to 2009.
Holland admitted that she was dating a younger woman, which can be challenge, and characterized the age difference as “very big.” She expects it would shock many people. It even shocks her a bit.
“But as they say, ‘If she dies, she dies,’ ” Taylor joked.
Moreover, a LGBTQ women’s site called Autostraddle noted that Holland’s social media feeds have hinted that she’s been spending quite a bit of time with Paulson in recent months. The most interesting, and rather sweet, piece of evidence comes from a picture Taylor posted on Twitter of Sarah.

In the photo, the younger actress is posing gracefully in a stunning gold dress, back to the camera. Holland’s comment: “When captions fail…”
As for Sarah, she said nothing about the rumored relationship during her appearance Monday night at the 2015 Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City. She was there as part of the cast of a lesbian period drama called Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.
So for now, all celebrity watchers can do is speculate and cheer for Holland, whether or not she’s actually dating the American Horror Story star. Because one thing is certain amid all the gossip — Taylor is in love, and that’s a wonderful thing.

According to the New York Daily News, Holland said she’s dated other women before, but at 72, her romance with her anonymous girlfriend is her first ever deeply committed relationship. For years, Taylor admitted that work has been central to her life and marriage wasn’t a priority. Her mother’s poor marriage, to an alcoholic, didn’t provide a very encouraging example.
According to Autostraddle, Holland is finally prepared, after all this time, to give a relationship the commitment it deserves. Her mother’s death, and the sadness that followed, may have inspired a change in Taylor, Page Six added.
“I just suddenly got the sense that I was living a very shallow life. I had not had wonderful relationships. I had stayed very solo.”
Whomever has captured Taylor’s heart, that woman is talking marriage. And if that happens, it would be private.
“I would not do that publicly. My relationship is with a woman, and I have not — given my generation it would not be something that would automatically occur to me,” Holland said. “But she’s mentioned it because just from a spiritual point of view, from a heart point of view… as a deed that has a very rich symbolic gesture to it, it has its attraction.”
