Florida Woman Admits To Raping Infant And Filming It
A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with crimes associated with child molestation. The Dreamin’ Demon reports that 31-year-old Katherine Rice admitted to authorities that she filmed herself “performing lewd acts” on an infant. The details surrounding this case are enough to make any parent’s blood boil, especially since the infant was so young in age.
Police in Zephyrhills, Florida, were alerted to the woman’s alleged behavior by someone who claimed that they were sent a video on Facebook depicting the vile acts. The video allegedly showed Katherine Rice sexually assaulting an infant aged between 1 and 2-months-old. The identity of the witness who contacted authorities has not yet been revealed in media reports.
When authorities interrogated the Florida woman, she admitted that she had filmed the video of herself sexually molesting the infant, using her tablet, in either the month of April or May. WFLA News reports that the infant was born in April of this year, which means that the child victim could have been under a month old at the time of the abuse.
Authorities in Zephyrhills also interviewed the Florida woman’s husband, who admitted that he had knowledge of the video’s existence. He told detectives that he had seen the video and that his wife texted it to him back in May. He has not been arrested at this time, nor are authorities confirming or denying whether he was the person who turned in his wife. Furthermore, no announcement of any charges has been made pertaining to his knowledge of the video’s existence.
Katherine Rice has been charged with sexual battery involving a victim under 12-years-old. She’s also been charged with at least one count of sexual performance by a child. These are both felony charges, which could carry more than a decade of jail time in the state of Florida. She is currently being held in jail on bond in the amount of $60,000. Meanwhile, authorities are not revealing the relationship between Rice and her infant victim. It’s not known at this time if the baby belonged to the Florida woman, or if she was somehow entrusted to care for it. The gender of the victim also has not been clarified.
This is far from the only time that a Florida woman or Florida man have been caught filming illegal sex acts. Earlier this year, an 18-year-old named Ashley Miller was arrested after she admitted to taking selfies of herself during sexual acts with a dog at her grandmother’s home. She was ultimately charged with two counts of sexual activities involving animals.
In 2012, a Florida man named Emerson D. Callum was arrested after authorities say he drugged a woman and then filmed himself raping her unconscious body. Callum was charged with multiple crimes, which include two counts of sexual battery on a victim mentally or physically incapacitated and conspiracy to commit sexual battery. Ultimately, both he and an associate of his were given life sentences for raping numerous women in warehouses in the same fashion as the victim who initially turned them in to authorities.
A more shocking case out of Florida involves a 14-year-old girl from Orangeburg, who reportedly filmed a toddler performing sex acts on her. Not only did the Florida teen film these horrifying acts of child sex abuse, but she posted the video — publicly — to Facebook. This triggered a tidal wave of calls to the Orangeburg Police Department, who arrested the 14-year-old girl.
As for Katherine Rice, the Florida woman remains in jail — unable to post bond. At this time, it’s not known if she has her own attorney, or if she will use a public defender in this shocking case.
