Beanie Sigel Sheds Pounds In Dramatic Transformation One Year After Shooting Incident

Hip-hop star Beanie Sigel has taken to Instagram to show off his fit new physique, and for good reason.

Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, has lost more than just a few pounds ever since he took healthy living seriously.

Comparing Sigel’s pictures now and more than a year ago, the 41-year-old appears to be an entirely different person.

In a post he put up on social media a few days ago, Beanie said that “health is wealth,” and that he feels “like a million bucks,” along with the statement “AL’HUMDU’ALLAH.”

Sigel’s drastic weight loss could be related to a shooting incident that took place in December last year. The rapper and musician was shot outside his brother-in-law’s home in southern New Jersey, and reports claimed that he has been staying in the same residence ever since he was released from a federal prison for tax evasion.

Beanie Sigel had just dropped his kids off at school when the shooting incident happened. Sigel has since given his statement about the incident, while the gunman remains unnamed to this day. Philly.com reported that the persons of interest include Sigel’s sister-in-law, Kamilah Slahuddin, and other relatives, but no arrests were made. The hip-hop star was shot in the abdomen, but fragments of the bullet got into his lungs. As a result, doctors had to remove one of his lungs in order for him to survive.

After the operation, Sigel left the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and stayed at the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey. He spent 90 days at the facility to learn how to use his remaining lung to breathe.

A source initially told reports that the hip-hop star was not looking very good, and that “it’s really a bad injury.”

But now that he’s fully recovered from his injuries, it seems Sigel, who has always had a larger physique, is determined to live a healthy life.

In addition, it looks like Sigel may have also fixed and rekindled his friendship with rapper Jay Z. For a certain period, the two were not the best of friends after Sigel dissed the “Empire State of Mind” rapper in the single “I Go Off.”

While it was previously reported that Sigel has apologized to Jay Z, he said in a later interview that he never “apologized.”

In spite of the feud, it seems both Sigel and Jay Z are on good terms now.

Back in May, Beanie, Freeway, and the rest of State Property performed onstage with Jay Z at his B-Sides concert.

Sigel recalled the experience and said in a radio interview that it felt like old times.

“The other day it was like nothing every changed. Everybody was laughing, happy, smilin’ — jokin,” said Beanie Sigel.

When asked during a radio interview on Boom Philly 107.9 whether he would collaborate with Jay Z, he said that he does not want to spoil it, although he knows that the public wants that.

“It’s undeniable. It gotta happen,” he said.

Sigel, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, released three albums from 2000 to 2005 – The Truth, The Reason, and The B. Coming. A former member of the Dame Dash Music Group, and Roc-A-Fella Records, Beanie Sigel has sold over two million album records worldwide.

Beanie Sigel has also been involved in several legal cases, including a federal weapons charge in 2002 where he served a year in jail, assault charges for punching a 53-year-old man, an attempted murder case, drug possession charges, three counts of tax evasion charges, and drug, weapons, and conspiracy charges.
