Like Mick Foley’s diatribe noted on Facebook, the time for the WWE to improve is right now. There are a slew of problems that currently exist with the product. For example, it’s extremely stale. Not enough stars are able to generate ratings for the company. Sheamus and Roman Reigns aren’t what the people want to see, obviously. Ratings for WWE Raw haven’t been this low since 1997. That’s a record that nobody wants to break.
John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Seth Rollins, and Randy Orton are currently away from the WWE. All five of those WWE superstars carried the company, in the wrestling or entertainment category, at one point or another. Without them, the WWE has had to pull some audibles. They are barely getting away with putting out a product that isn’t well-received by the WWE Universe.
Tonight’s WWE Raw will mark a time when they stop watching for many fans. Foley was the first one to say that publicly. Hopefully, the WWE listens to WWE Hall of Fame wrestlers that have a great mind for the industry. Foley is one of those men. Jim Ross is another, but it appears WWE Creative isn’t looking outside for how to write their product.
In Pittsburgh, WWE Raw is said to have Ric Flair return. He will most-likely be involved in the Charlotte and Paige angle. It will also probably be a one-time only event. The WWE has been adamant before about using Flair on a consistent basis. That will be a big angle, but it won’t be the only one at WWE Raw.
“There are rumors from two different sources saying there should be a major non-Divas angle on tonight’s show as well. One of the sources believed something big was planned for this week even before last week’s 2.16 rating came out. It’s been expected that WWE may do something big this week to try and bounce back from last week’s horrible numbers. We’ll keep you updated throughout the day.”
Like the report says, it’s only a rumor. However, with the ratings as poor as they are, something has to change in a big way. Don’t necessarily expect a CM Punk-like promo to shake the WWE up, but it may have something to do with the main event angle and Roman Reigns. With Reigns trying to get on top of his game, he needs to gain the respect of the WWE Universe.
That’s not the only part of the WWE that needs to get respected, but the Divas championship’s name doesn’t allow superb wrestlers like Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte to gain the respect from fans that necessarily don’t like women’s wrestling. Bayley, Banks and Charlotte both commented on changing the Divas title back to the Women’s championship.
Because WWE NXT is doing so well with the women’s division. Bayley talked about moving up to the main roster and she said she wasn’t in any hurry.
“I definitely want to be a part of it but I’m not in any rush right now. NXT is so huge and we’re already doing something very special here, so if I was on the main roster right now I’d feel that I was missing out with what’s going on in NXT.”
“I’m glad I still get to be here and experience it with them but ultimately I want to join Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch in WWE. What they’re doing right now is amazing and I know how much it means to them. I’m super proud of them and everything they’re going through to change women’s wrestling.”
