Lamar Odom Health Update: Khloe Kardashian Visits After Brain Damage Reports, Drug Charges Dropped?

Lamar Odom received a weekend visit at the hospital from his wife, Khloe Kardashian. After news broke that drug charges against the former NBA star would likely be dropped due to his dire health, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star — who had previously been battling a staph infection — was spotted at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where Lamar Odom is currently receiving medical care.

On November 29, Lamar Odom’s wife was photographed outside of the hospital. According to Us Weekly, the visit marked the first time Kardashian had been seen at the hospital after her staph diagnosis earlier this month. Following her visit, Kardashian was seen carrying what appeared to be frozen yogurt containers from a nearby store.

Lamar Odom has been in the hospital since last month, when he reportedly suffered a drug overdose and multiple strokes while partying at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada. After spending several days in a coma in Las Vegas, Lamar Odom woke up and began communicating with his doctors. He was then transferred to Los Angeles, via medical helicopter, and all the while, his wife has been at his side.

Two weeks ago, TMZ reported news of Lamar Odom’s ongoing medical care, claiming the former professional athlete may be suffering from “extensive brain damage.” According to their sources, Lamar Odom was said to be struggling to communicate and with his mobility, and he was even having trouble recognizing some close friends and family. The source also claimed Lamar Odom had made “little progression” in the last couple weeks and was only able to speak a word “here and there.”

In other Lamar Odom news, the drug charges against him may soon be dropped. As TMZ reported on November 28, law enforcement sources have claimed the Nye County defense attorney may no longer be pursuing charges due to Lamar Odom’s dire health. Although blood tests confirmed that Lamar Odom was using cocaine prior to being found unconscious, he may not be legally competent to stand trial, which may lead the D.A. to abandon their potential case.

In a new interview with the Today show’s Natalie Morales, Kardashian opened up about the part she’s played in Lamar Odom’s recovery. As fans may recall, Kardashian, as Lamar Odom’s wife, was left in charge of making key decisions after he was hospitalized on October 13.

Below are a few of her comments, via E! News.

“It’s a horrible call to get… Getting to the hospital and knowing he’s in a coma and having to run these tests or make medical decisions. It’s terrifying. You have to make risk-and-reward decisions. Like, OK, well, there’s an 80 percent chance if we do this operation, he might pass away. But also if we don’t do it, there’s a 90 percent chance he’ll pass away.”

Kardashian went on to reveal details about Lamar Odom’s current health, explaining, “[Lamar Odom] is learning how to walk again and learning… cognitive therapy and speech therapy. They think, like, within a year and a half to two years that, mentally, he might be fully recovered. But they don’t know.”

After seeing positive changes early in Lamar Odom’s recovery, Kardashian was admittedly optimistic. However, according to her Today show interview, doctors often prepared her for the worse when it came to Lamar Odom’s future.

“They kept saying, ‘You’re so optimistic. And you’re so positive.’ They wanted to keep reminding me, like, ‘We’re nowhere in the clear,'” Kardashian explained.
