Mary-Kate Olsen Gets Hitched To French Banker 17 Years Her Senior

Former Full House star Mary Kate Olsen has tied the knot with her long-time beau, French banker Olivier Sarkozy, in an intimate event at a New York City residence on Friday.

The 29-year-old businesswoman and fashion designer held the wedding with French banker, Sarkozy, 46, a day after Thanksgiving. The couple invited 50 of their closest friends to the quaint ceremony, which was held at a friend’s house on 49th Street, between Second and Third avenues.

After the wedding, cocktails were served to the guests in the garden, and later on, dinner was served inside the house. However, Olsen’s “decor du jour” was a bowl of cigarettes. A source said that “everyone smoked the whole night.”

While bowls of cigarettes are not exactly commonplace at weddings, one can only assume that chain smoking while chatting is something that Mary-Kate Olsen and her new husband like to do with their friends. The couple also made sure that the wedding would be an intimate event for them as well as their guests, and so cellphones were reportedly handed over upon entering the venue. As a result, there was no video or photo images of the wedding to share on social media.

The couple first started dating in 2012, and sources have said that the child actress-turned-fashion designer was “definitely interested in him.”

An insider said that Olsen was tired of guys her age, whom she finds rather immature..

“She got the kids out of her system. Now being a businesswoman dominates her time, and she is rarely impressed with guys. She’s definitely interested in him,” the insider said.

On the other hand, Sarkozy was also impressed by Olsen’s wit, and said that “she’s mature for her age.” His friends also said that she is “funny and sweet.”

Reports say that Sarkozy, who is the half brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, proposed to Mary-Kate Olsen back in April 2013, although Olsen initially said no.

“She’s making him wait,” a source close to Olsen revealed. “She’s not in any rush. She wanted to make sure he would be good to her.”

Sources also said that the French multimillionaire wants to “lock her down” for life.

Almost a year later, Sarkozy popped the question once again, this time equipped with a 4-carat vintage Cartier diamond ring that was said to be purchased at an auction for $81,250.

Olsen finally said “yes.” After getting officially engaged, Mary-Kate Olsen and Sarkozy began planning the wedding details, although reports said that they had trouble settling on wedding plans.

Sarkozy’s marriage to Olsen is his second, after he got divorced from his first wife, Charlotte, with whom he shares two kids – Julien, 13, and Margo, 11, in their 13 years of marriage.

Fortunately, it seems that Charlotte likes Mary-Kate Olsen as well. Even before getting married to Sarkozy, the former child star reportedly asked Charlotte about things that concern her kids, as a soon-to-be-stepmother. “Charlotte loves her,” said an insider.

Meanwhile, Olsen’s family also has only good words to say about Sarkozy, who is 17 years older than Mary-Kate. “Mary-Kate’s family thinks Olivier is the best thing to happen to her,” an insider revealed after the two got engaged.

Ashley, Mary-Kate’s twin sister and co-founder of two fashion labels with her, also ditched criticisms that her twin has been receiving. She said that her sister is not paying attention to all the naysayers who are questioning their relationship.

Before their intimate wedding, Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy had been living in their $13.5 million townhouse in Manhattan.
