‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Mid-Season Finale Finds Glenn Alive, But Other Major Deaths Could Be Ahead

The Walking Dead has reached the mid-season finale, and spoilers indicate that several characters could be in danger of dying after the comeback of fan-favorite Glenn.

The finale finds the survivors in a perilous shape, with the walkers breaking through the wall and a new group of humans (which could be Negan’s group) nearby and poised to cause chaos.

The biggest spoiler of The Walking Dead season so far came last week, when fans learned that Glenn had survived what appeared to be a certain death. Fans last saw a horde of walkers converge on Glenn and Nicholas. After Nicholas took a gun to his head, he collapsed atop Glenn, and it was Nicholas’s body that viewers saw being torn apart.

As the walkers took apart Nicholas, Glenn was able to escape to a dumpster.

Fans already had plenty of theories that Glenn could have survived, with some noting that actor Steven Yeun was seen filming a scene that appeared to come from later in the season. Yeun himself said he was overwhelmed by the response from fans, many of whom took to Twitter to mourn Glenn’s apparent death.

“I feel relieved. I feel very grateful. I feel so amazed at the response,” Yeun told the Hollywood Reporter. “I feel bad that I couldn’t say anything to everyone and to the family and friends I’m pretty sure I lost along the way. It’s been overwhelming. I didn’t know how to take it all.”

While Glenn survived his ordeal, other spoilers indicate that more deaths could be ahead for The Walking Dead. The Hollywood Reporter noted that the comic that the show is based on had a lot of carnage in the near future.

“During the zombie attack in Alexandria, Morgan is bitten and loses an arm after Michonne chops it off in a bid to save him. Rick and Jessie — a couple in the comics as well — plan to escape along with Carl. That plan goes out the window when Jessie’s son son, Ron, is bitten and she grabs Carl in a bid to help — only Jessie is bitten in the process and won’t release Carl. Rick is forced to chop her hand off as the walkers swarm both mother and son. It’s then that Douglas — the leader of Alexandria (and on whom the show’s Deanna is based) shows up and tries to fire aimlessly at the walkers in a misguided attempt to save the bitten Jessie and Ron. One of Douglas’ stray bullets hits Carl in the eye, sending him to the ground.”

But The Walking Dead does not faithfully follow the comic, so it’s possible that some — or possibly all — of that won’t happen. The Hollywood Reporter speculated that some major characters could meet their end in the mid-season finale, including Deanna or Jessie.

And spoilers that have emerged in the last few weeks point to what would likely be the biggest death in The Walking Dead history. Norman Reedus is in the midst of putting together a new reality television project for AMC, one that will show him riding around on his motorcycle and getting into various adventures. This had led to speculation that The Walking Dead may be killing off the popular Daryl Dixon. Cinema Blend writer Conner Schwerdtfeger theorized that AMC could be preparing fans for Reedus’s departure by transitioning him to the new project.

Fans of The Walking Dead may have to wait for resolution to any spoilers that may result from Sunday’s episode. After the mid-season finale, the show will be on hiatus until February 14.
