Woman Reveals That She Was Gang Raped By Neighbors, Husband Divorces Her Via Text Message

A 25-year-old Indian woman received a shocking text from her husband after revealing she was gang raped by a group of neighbors.

The incident took place in Dubai, India. Scared and confused, the unnamed woman reluctantly told her husband about the rape. She hoped he would defend her rights and help to bring justice to the group of neighbors that raped her. However, the husband, also unnamed, replied to her claim via text message with the word “talaq,” repeated three times. Under Sharia law, talaq means instant divorce.

The woman’s husband is a construction worker. He chose to remove his wife from his life rather than investigate the incident further. Since the gang rape, the woman has been removed from her home, where she lived with her mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law has also claimed custody of her child, claiming she is unfit to care for him, according to Metro.

The woman could not believe that her husband, the man she thought loved her with all his heart, would send such a devastating message in response to her rape. She had not control over the viscous act the neighbors assaulted her with and thought her husband would come to her aid.

“When I read the message I went numb. I couldn’t believe what I had read. Just three words; talaq, talaq, talaq.”

The woman is devastated that her husband chose the easy way out of the relationship, rather than battling alongside her and bring justice to the men that gang raped her.

“This is the last thing I was expecting from my husband of five years after I confided in him about what happened. I felt violated. I thought that he would stand by my side through this, to help me through the pain of it. But I was wrong. He took the easiest way out like a coward and divorced me with text message.”

The Daily Mail revealed that the five-year relationship between the construction worker and his wife took only five seconds to end, as the man typed and sent the message via text.

“It took him five seconds to end a five-year relationship. And my mother-in-law who had stood by my side after I was raped and went with me to the police station to report the attack, suddenly changed her mind and took her son’s side. Overnight I became an outcast from my whole family.”

The woman, although devastated, revealed that being divorce and removed from her home was hard, but she knew she would survive. However, having her son taken from her was just too much to handle.

The woman’s mother in law revealed that her son’s divorce means that she no longer has a place in their home, but her child must stay behind.

” ‘My son has divorced his wife, so she has no right to live with us. That’s the law,’ the mother-in-law told Mail Online. She no longer belongs to us, but the child is part of our family’s lineage. We can’t let him go with her.”

In India, and other places Sharia law runs rampant, many men have taken to technological means to invoke the triple talaq, rather than face their wives eye to eye. Although many Muslim nations have abolished the triple talaq, Sharia law welcomes it. In many nations, it is thought to be a weak and cowardly way out of an uncomfortable situation, but in Sharia law, it is a sign of power over the woman, oftentimes frightening the woman into being submissive for fear of becoming an outcast.
