‘X-Files’ Is Back In 2016, And It’s Awesome

X-Files is a cult classic from the 1990s that had a solid following – and still does. Now The X-Files is about to get a reboot in a six-episode miniseries that has fans waiting with baited breath. FOX has released the new promo photos for the show, and they are enticing. According to the Wrap, returning to the show is David Duchovny as Fox Mulder, Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner, and William B. Davis as Cigarette Smoking Man.

Two new trailers have also been released for The X-Files, and they are further proof of how amazing the reboot will be.

Right off the cuff, these trailers gives fans the feel of mystery and government conspiracy of the old show, even though it takes place 13 years after the show went off the air with modern-day, 21st-century technology.

Earlier this year, David Duchovny told People that it would be fun to go back to The X-Files.

“It’s going to be strange and fun. Thankfully Gillian will be there, and we’ll both be in positions of like, ‘Are we really here again? Are we really saying those words again?’ At least we’ll have each other.”

CBS News more recently interviewed Gillian Anderson about reprising her role of Dana Scully on The X-Files. She likened it to getting on a bike again.

“It was like a getting on a bike again, but at the time same time, it had its own challenges along the way. But you know, we only did six as opposed to twenty-four and so there’s something unique and different about that. It was great to be working again with David and some of the same crew, same writers that we had. And of course Chris Carter, our executive producer. It was good. I haven’t seen any of them yet. I heard positive things. I’m excited about it and hopefully they’re good!”

There is no doubt that The X-Files has always brought its audience mystery, intrigue, and conspiracy all wrapped up in a weekly package of fear. In fact, some of the episodes from the original series were downright terrifying. Fansided explores the five scariest X-Files episodes of all time, most of which occurred in the earlier seasons of the show. The shows they highlighted were “Squeeze,” “Folie à Deux,” “Pusher,” “Ice,” and “Home.”

As for the reboot of The X-Files, it will have its own level of scary, that’s for sure. But what else will it have in it? According to the Sun, Gillian Anderson says what there won’t be – aliens.

“Will there be aliens in it? No, no aliens this year, sorry. It will be scary. I hope it will be good. There’ll be some laughs and I think overall, even though I haven’t seen any of it, I’m most pleased with the fact it feels like what we used to deliver. And that’s kind of what the audience and the fans seem to want. I think we have accomplished that. So hopefully it will be successful.”

There might not be aliens, but, according to MStars News, there is a possibility that Mulder and Scully, along with Skinner, will have to team up with none other than their arch enemy, Cigarette Smoking Man. But no matter what Chris Carter and his awesome cast have created, it’s sure to please the fans who are on the edge of their seats to see the new show. Besides, fans must be just dying to find out why Cigarette Smoking Man isn’t dead. That might just be the biggest mystery of all!
