Kristin Cavallari Accused Of Stealing Bristol Palin’s Unusual Baby Name Idea, Kristin’s Daughter Is Named After A Dog

Kristin Cavallari has been playfully accused of stealing the unusual baby name that Bristol Palin has picked out for her second child. However, Kristin didn’t actually get her baby name inspiration from Bristol — the former star of The Hills actually named her daughter after a random woman’s dog.

According to Us Weekly, the birth of Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler’s third child forced Bristol Palin to reveal the name of her own baby. People reports that Kristin and Jay welcomed their baby girl on Monday, November 23, so they have a little something extra to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. Shortly after the baby’s birth, Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler announced that they decided to name their first daughter Saylor James Cutler.

Bristol Palin responded to Kristin Cavallari’s baby name announcement by revealing that she picked out the same unusual name for her daughter, albeit with a different spelling. However, Bristol isn’t going to change her baby’s moniker simply because it’s not as unique as she originally thought it was.

“When you find out @kristincavallari named her baby the exact name you are naming yours. What a weird coincidence,” Palin wrote in a recent Instagram post. “Congrats on your new bundle, and I do love her name.. Still naming my baby girl Sailor!”

To prove that she picked the name Sailor before seeing Kristin Cavallari’s baby name announcement, Bristol Palin shared a photo of a few Christmas gifts for her daughter on Instagram. She was so proud of her name choice that she bought a monogrammed Christmas stocking and baby blanket featuring her daughter’s name. According to TV Guide, her due date is likely sometime soon after Thanksgiving.

Bristol hasn’t explained why she chose her cute, sea-inspired moniker for her first daughter. However, Kristin Cavallari was happy to share her bizarre baby name story with Cricket’s Circle. Kristin said that she fell in love with the name back when she was pregnant with her first child, and apparently she’s been saving it for her first little girl.

“I met a woman and her dog, and I loved her dog’s name. Funny enough, it was the name she had picked out if she had a girl, but she had boys, so she used it for her dog instead. Here we are 3.5 years later, and we are going to use that name for our little girl!” Kristin Cavallari revealed.

For a while there, it looked like Kristin Cavallari was going to pull a Michelle Duggar by doing the initial letter theme thing with her kids — she chose “J” names for Jaxon Wyatt (18 months) and Jack (3). And speaking of the Duggars, it’s going to be hard for any celebrity to best Jessa Duggar Seewald and husband Ben Seewald when it comes to choosing an unusual name that starts with the letter “S.” As the Inquisitr previously reported, the Jill & Jessa: Counting On stars decided to name their first son Spurgeon Seewald.

While Kristin Cavallari didn’t choose a “J” name for her daughter’s first name, she decided to keep the “J” theme going by making another unique move and giving her baby girl the masculine middle name “James.” Perhaps she was inspired by Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds — they named their daughter James. Blake Lively told Good Morning America that her own name played a part in her decision to give her little girl a masculine moniker.

“It’s a family name,” Lively explained, according to Harper’s Bazaar. “And I liked having a boy’s name.”

Even though Namecandy.com reports that Liv Tyler and Christie Brinkley also have children named Sailor, Bristol Palin’s spelling decision actually makes her daughter’s name more unique than Kristin Cavallari’s. According to the Social Security Administration, “Saylor” was the 796th most popular girl name in America last year. The spelling “Sailor” didn’t even crack the top 1000. Interestingly, the meaning of Kristin’s “Saylor” actually isn’t the same as Bristol’s nautical baby name. According to Ancestry.com, it comes from the old French word “sailleor,” which means “dancer” or “leaper.” Saylor is also described as an “occupational name for a dancer or acrobat.”

So which baby name do you prefer: Bristol Palin’s Sailor, or Kristin Cavallari’s Saylor?
