‘General Hospital’ Star Jason Thompson And Wife Expecting First Child, Baby News Apparently Leaked Via Periscope

General Hospital actor Jason Thompson has been in the soap news lately, as he recently announced that he is leaving behind his role as Dr. Patrick Drake after 10 years. However, that may not be the most important thing happening in his life right now. It appears that the actor and his wife, Paloma Jonas Thompson, are expecting their first child.

This exciting baby news comes from Celeb Dirty Laundry, but it seems that the unexpected announcement originally came about during a live Periscope session Thompson was a part of. His GH co-star Chad Duell, who plays Michael Corinthos on the soap, was in the middle of filming for fans on the social media site. That’s when Jason, with his wife by his side, told everyone that they are pregnant.

However, it looks like their joyful baby news should have been private and not part of the public spectrum just yet. While the General Hospital cast was celebrating with the expectant couple, fans who were watching the behind-the-scenes footage also got an earful. According to CDL, they were calling him daddy and talking about morning sickness and lack of sleep due to babies. They were said to be very happy and looking forward to this new adventure in their lives. Mrs. Thompson is apparently due in May.

The interesting part is that once Jason Thompson realized that his buddy actually had his camera on at that time, the filming stopped abruptly. Apparently, Chad questioned Jason at that time to make sure he wanted to make the baby news public.

“Are you sure you want your pregnancy announced now?”

That was when it all went dark. That is mighty suspicious. There has been no official announcement coming from Thompson at all, so it looks like he may have just wanted to share it with his close friends and family before he took to social media to announce that he is going to become a daddy very soon. But now that the baby news seems to have been outed, fans are sending their congratulations already.

Jason will make a great dad. His role as Patrick Drake has certainly prepared him for this new role off daytime TV. For the past few years, his character has been an active parent to his adorable daughter, Emma Drake. Patrick has currently been raising his little girl on his own while his ex-wife, Robin Scorpio, has unknowingly been held against her will. Jason Thompson has a wonderful relationship with young actress Brooklyn Rae Silzer on screen, and GH fans will miss that father-daughter chemistry between them.

Thompson has chosen to leave Patrick Drake behind as he recently announced his departure from the ABC soap. He sent out a heartfelt post on his Instagram account letting everyone know that it was time to say goodbye.

“I have made the difficult decision to bid farewell to a character I’ve loved playing for over 10 years. It was not an easy decision but I feel like it’s time to hang up Dr. Patrick Drake’s white coat and scrubs.”

His last day of filming on the set of General Hospital was on November 20, which also just happened to be the actor’s birthday. Jason was a bit emotional about his last day, as expected. He wrote this post on Instagram.

“Yesterday morning. Nov 20th. 5:55 am. It was my birthday and also my last day of playing Patrick Drake on GH after 10 years. It was a long, emotional, exhausting, thrilling at times overwhelming day, and I am so grateful for every one of those moments. Change can be exciting and scary all at once.”

Now that he is no longer filming and supposedly expecting his first child, he may just stay home for a few months until the baby is born. However, he definitely has his options open as the other soaps that are still on air may just be trying to lure him in as he is one talented actor. There have been many rumors floating around the internet on Thompson taking over certain roles, so fans will just have to wait and see what happens next.

In the meantime, there may be an official baby announcement very soon from Jason Thompson. It is an exciting time for him and his wife, with two major life changes taking place within a year of each other.
