A two-year-old little girl, Lyndon Albers, went missing from her Hamilton, Massachusetts, bedroom in the early morning hours on Friday. The child was reportedly seen by her parents at 3:00 am; however, by 7:00 am the toddler was nowhere to be found inside the family's home. The little girl was reported missing to the police and an Amber Alert was in the process of being released when a couple driving to work spotted the child on the side of the road. The couple says the child was naked with cigarette burns covering her body. The little girl's head had also been shaved, leaving behind a large contusion on her head. Police now say they know who is responsible for the kidnapping and child abuse, the little girl's former babysitter who had recently been fired.
The Daily Mail reports that two-year-old Lyndon Albers was reported missing from her bedroom in Hamilton, Massachusetts, on Friday morning. The child was allegedly seen at 3:00 am in her bed but was not in the home at 7:00 am when the parents woke up. The police were alerted immediately and an Amber Alert was being issued. However, before the alert was complete, a couple driving to work spotted the child on the side of the road.
Tom and Marge Crosby say that they spotted the child as they were driving down the road. Tom says it was a "vision" that prompted him to turn around and investigate what he thought he saw on the side of the road.
"I don't want to say a vision but that's what it was — a vision. I drove by and then quickly it flashed through my head. I said 'Was that a baby or was it a doll?"When the couple got to the child, they say she was naked and shivering in the cold air. Her body was noted as being covered in cigarette burns and that her head had been recently shaved. As a result of the shaving, the child also had a large contusion on the side of her head. She was taken to the hospital and is reported as in fair condition.
As police investigated the kidnapping, they singled in on the little girl's former babysitter, 21-year-old Abigail Hanna. The babysitter had recently been fired after the young woman lost the family's trust. No further details were given on exactly what caused the falling out between the babysitter and the family as the police say the case is open and ongoing, and those details could hamper the investigation.
According to Abigail Hanna's Facebook profile, the former babysitter and alleged kidnapper is from Boston but lives in Topsfield. She previously lived in London and is listed as studying English Literature at Gordon College in Massachusetts, and is apparently a counselor there.
The Hamilton Police Department says the former babysitter was charged in the case of Lyndon Albers' kidnapping and is being charged with kidnapping, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a child, and breaking and entering.
With Hanna in custody, Police Chief Russell Stevens says he does not believe there is a threat to the public and that the little girl's abduction was not random. Therefore, Stevens says that parents should not be concerned about a potential child abductor on the loose.
