Bindi Irwin: Derek Hough Compares ‘DWTS’ Partner To ‘The Walking Dead’ Zombie

Bindi Irwin’s Dancing with the Stars journey will come to an end next week during the show’s huge two-night finale, and Derek Hough recently compared his partner to a zombie from The Walking Dead. This comparison might seem a bit worrisome, but Derek isn’t saying that the bright and bubbly ball of energy that is Bindi is suddenly going to start slowly shuffling around the dance floor while trying to nibble on his neck — he’s just saying that his partner’s torn-up tootsies are starting to look as rotten as a Walking Dead zombie’s fleshless feet.

In his latest TV Guide blog, Derek Hough shared a stomach-churning description of Bindi Irwin’s busted feet. As Dancing with the Stars viewers know, the Wonder from Down Under has really down a number on her toes and soles — she’s losing toenails, and she has craters on the bottoms of her feet. Unfortunately, it sounds like using super glue to keep her remaining nails in place hasn’t done much to improve the look of Bindi Irwin’s damaged digits. According to Derek, he and trio partner Mark Ballas both almost lost their lunch when Bindi Irwin showed a few photos of her feet last week.

“We both almost threw up on the spot,” Derek revealed. “They were like a flesh-eating monster. It was something straight out of The Walking Dead. I get nauseous just thinking about them!”

According to Derek, Mark wasn’t sure if he could be a part of last Monday’s trio routine because he cut his foot on a piece of glass. However, after seeing Bindi Irwin’s foot photos, he decided that his cut wasn’t enough of an excuse to sit the dance out. Mark went on to help Bindi and Derek earn a perfect score for their innovative jazz routine, which involved Bindi Irwin dancing on top of and inside of a metal cube that could have crushed her almost-fleshless feet. Bindi Irwin managed to avoid smashing her toes, but she did whack herself in the face while swinging a light bulb on a rope around her neck.

Bindi Irwin’s trio was definitely the stand-out performance from the three dances that she and Derek did during the Dancing with the Stars season semifinal. Judge Julianne Hough called her a “ninja warrior princess,” and Bruno Tonioli praised Derek’s creativity and the dance’s positive message about how “inner light will never be extinguished.”

Bindi Irwin also praised her partner’s light bulb dance idea during an interview with FOX411.

“I don’t know how he does it because he creates things that are so beautiful and so meaningful. For this dance, it was really just about how we’re all connected and finding that light in everyday life and it was stepping outside of that box. We all put ourselves in these bubbles.”

Bindi Irwin might be a force to be reckoned with on the dance floor these days, but Derek swears that his Dancing with the Stars partner was not a natural dancer when he first met her — she’s where she’s at now simply because she’s so determined and dedicated.

“No joke, she could not dance,” Derek Hough told Entertainment Weekly. “To see her evolve and be aware of her body and [have] this confidence and even her posture is different, it’s awesome.”

Even though Bindi Irwin has been consistently earning high scores and winning the audience over with her bright and bubbly personality, Derek is a bit concerned about his partner’s chances of winning Dancing with the Stars. He seems to fear that too many DWTS voters will assume that Bindi Irwin will have plenty of support, so instead of using their votes on the frontrunner, they’ll give them to some of their other favorites.

“I just hope that as far as Bindi is concerned, people will remember to vote for her if they like her,” Derek wrote. “She’s done very well and has been so consistent that I think one of two things can happen. Either people are not fans, which is fine, and don’t vote for you or they assume you’ll be OK because you’ve been doing well. We’ve seen the latter happen a lot on the show.”

Next week, one of Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough’s dances will be a freestyle routine. Derek says that it “embodies love” and that it’s “raw and authentic.”

According to Just Jared, each couple will also perform a redo dance next week. Bindi and Derek’s dance will be the quickstep, which they performed during Week 3. It was TV night, and they earned four 8’s for their routine inspired by The Jeffersons. However, they’ll be performing to a new song, and the judges will choose creative elements for the dance style redos.

On Monday night, one of the remaining four Dancing with the Stars couples will be eliminated, but the Mirrorball Trophy winner won’t be named yet — the competition continues on Tuesday night with a 24-hour fusion dance challenge. The three remaining couples will be given just 24 hours to learn a new routine that combines two dance styles. This will be their last chance to earn a few extra points.

Do you think Bindi Irwin will go home with the Mirrorball Trophy on Tuesday night, or will one of her competitors pull off a shocking upset?
