Jennifer Lawrence Says Chris Pratt Sex Scene Was ‘Awkward’ Because He’s Married

Chris Pratt is arguably one of the hottest people in Hollywood right now. So, Jennifer Lawrence should be thrilled about having to do a sex scene with him, right? Well, not exactly. Although the sex scene with Hollywood’s two hottest stars should be steamy when it hits theaters, it wasn’t sexy to film.

Jennifer Lawrence, who starred with Pratt in the film Passengers, said the sex scene was “bizarre.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence, who was joined by Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Jane Fonda, Carey Mulligan, Brie Larson, Helen Mirren, and Charlotte Rampling for the annual Oscar Round Table interview, explained how awkward her sex scene was with Pratt.

“I had my first real sex scene a couple weeks ago [while shooting Passengers with Chris Pratt, and it was really bizarre. It was really weird.”

So what happened exactly? Well, according to Lawrence, she got drunk because she was so nervous, and because she was inebriated things got even weirder.

“I got really, really drunk, but then that led to more anxiety when I got home because I was like, ‘What have I done? I don’t know.’ And he was married. And it was going to be my first time kissing a married man, and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach. And I knew it was my job, but I couldn’t tell my stomach that. So I called my mom, and I was like, ‘Will you just tell me it’s OK?'”

“It was just very vulnerable. And you don’t know what’s too much. You want to do it real, you want everything to be real, but then…That was the most vulnerable I’ve ever been.”

That said, it sounds like Lawrence has some selective memory there. In her film American Hustle, she kissed co-star Christian Bale, and he’s married to Sibi Blaizic. Now, while she’s not as known as Pratt’s wife Anna Faris, she’s still Bale’s wife.

The awkwardness of sex scenes wasn’t the only topic that was discussed. Lawrence’s gender gap salary essay for Lena Dunham’s newsletter Lenny was another topic of discussion. Helen Mirren praised Lawrence for the way she went about opening up the discussion,

“I so recognized that thing you said about, ‘I didn’t want to be an a——,’ you know? I want to be polite. We’ve got to stop being polite. If I ever had children, which I don’t, the first thing I’d teach a girl of mine is the words ‘f— off.'”

The Actresses Roundtable wasn’t the only time Lawrence dished on her Passengers co-star Chris Pratt. The actress told Cinema Blend about working with Pratt, specifically kissing him,

“I don’t know him as well as I know Josh and Liam… It doesn’t feel as much like making out with a family member. Not that I’m against that—I’m from Kentucky.”

Passengers is an upcoming Sci Fi/romance film. Coming Soon says the film is about a mechanic who is on a “120-year journey to a distant colonized planet in another galaxy, who becomes the first traveler to experience pod hibernation failure.”

After he wakes up 100 years too soon, he is the only person in the world and he’s stranded. His only true companionship is with robots, so in order to have some human contact he wakes up a journalist and falls in love with her.

The film is scheduled for release on December 21, 2016, which is perfect for Oscar season.
