Ron Perlman Reveals ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Secret: Pilot Episode Initially Shot With Another Actor As Clay Morrow

Ron Perlman may be sixty-five years old, but he now looks twenty years younger, thanks to the folks at Call of Duty, who have turned back the clock for Perlman.

According to zap2it, in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops III, which was released on November 6, Ron Perlman offers his talent as a voice actor. And on screen, he looks so young that he more closely resembles his character in the 1995 film City of the Lost Children than he did in his more recent role on Sons of Anarchy.

Okay, so Ron Perlman is truly sixty-five years old and in real life he looks it, but that’s quite alright – he’s a good-looking 65. He has also had an impressive career that is still catapulting ahead at lightning speed. Most recently, Ron Perlman is known for his role as Clay Morrow in Sons of Anarchy.

As reported by NPR Books, Ron Perlman discussed his Sons of Anarchy role with Fresh Air. He revealed he had to audition for the part of the ruthless leader of the motorcycle gang.

“I did have to audition for it. They had already shot the pilot with another actor playing Clay Morrow. And the network decided that they weren’t getting what they were hoping to get and that they were willing to — they loved the series enough to — if they thought they found the right actor, they were willing to reshoot the pilot and start — restart the clock and green light the show for a whole first season, which is 13 episodes.”

Aside from Sons of Anarchy and Ron Perlman’s earlier work in Hellboy, Star Trek: Nemesis, Beauty and the Beast, and Quest for Fire, he has a new role to prepare for, one that will take him into a magical world. According to The Movie Network, Ron Perlman has been cast in J.K. Rowling’s newest movie franchise, a prequel to the Harry Potter movies called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The first of the new movies, which is set seventy years before Harry Potter and is meant to be a trilogy, is currently being filmed in London and stars Eddie Redmayne in the role of Newt Scamander, who travels around researching and collecting magical creatures. The news of Ron Perlman being cast in the movie was originally reported by the Hollywood Reporter, stating a source who said Perlman would play the role of a goblin.

And speaking of the Harry Potter universe, Ron Perlman is also starring in a movie called Moonwalkers alongside Rupert Grint, who played the lovable Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movie franchise. Teaser trailers and exclusive clips have been released for the movie.

In Moonwalkers, which is set in 1969, Ron Perlman portrays a CIA agent that gets a rock band manager (played by Rupert Grint) to enlist Stanley Kubrick to fake the moon landing. The movie looks to be incredibly hilarious, which is a far cry from Perlman’s roles in Sons of Anarchy or Hellboy, but Ron Perlman has shown himself to be a very versatile actor.

Ron Perlman is even being recognized for his voice talents. According to Variety, he has been nominated in the 2015 Voice Arts Awards presented by the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences for his narration of the audiobook “Easy Street (the Hard Way).”

An excerpt of the book is available.

No matter what age Ron Perlman is, he is still in very high-demand. Fans will really enjoy what is yet to come. Whether they are into Call of Duty: Black Ops III or Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, there is enough Ron Perlman to go around.
