David Beckham Is Named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2015!
David Beckham is no stranger to sexy, but just in case the former soccer sensation needed any further proof, People Magazine was more than happy to provide it. David Beckham was awarded with the oh-so-coveted title of Sexiest Man Alive for 2015 late last night, and the internet is abuzz with envy for his wife, Victoria Beckham. Jimmy Kimmel had the honor of breaking the news on Tuesday night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The announcement came after a day full of teasers from People, as the magazine did not make it easy on readers and fans to guess whom they had chosen. A well-timed picture made its way to Instagram, and there was even a video, both taken during the magazine’s cover shoot, and which gave away absolutely nothing. In fact, even when it came time for Kimmel to release the name of 2015’s Sexiest Man Alive, the mystery continued. The audience on set had to play a mini guessing game before revealing that the 40-year-old, who has modeled for Calvin Klein, snagged the title.

According to ET the British tatooed hottie initially wore a mask unto Kimmel Live!, and audience members asked him questions to find out who had deposed the Norse God Thor – Chris Hemsworth held the title for 2014. It was revealed through those questions that the new Sexiest Man Alive was married to a celebrity (the Beckhams’ have been married since 1999), had children (the couple have a daughter named Harper and three older sons – Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz), had an accent (Kimmel originally disguised the voice) and that yes, at one point in life, he had indeed sported a man bun.

Beckham said his wife Victoria was quite pleased that he had won the title of Sexiest Man Alive for People‘s 30th anniversary of the tradition.
“I would hope that she feels this way about me all the time anyway! But she said, ‘Congratulations!’ “
Beckham, who has been known to troll his eldest son before, says that one of the perks to having the title will be the ability to tell his 16-year-old, who was joking that he was the one they actually meant, that his dad is “still up and running” and “the Sexiest Man Alive, apparently.” He also spoke to People of the awkward adjustment his kids had to go through seeing their dad in his underwear on billboards across the country. After retiring from the professional sport of soccer the world saw more of David Beckham when he began modeling for H&M and became a Calvin Klein underwear model as well.

Beckham revealed that People had given him a sneak peek of the photo they chose from that shoot and a look at the cover too about an hour before the Jimmy Kimmel Live! video stream. When accepting the award, he remained remarkably humble about his new title and joked that it was the highlight of his career. Never one to be ungrateful, he also went on to thank all who made his sexiness possible.
“I would obviously like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world, of course. I would like to thank my hairdresser, my stylist…”
People’s award truly showed the modest side of the British heartthrob as even though he’s been a sex symbol since his days on the field, he told them that he still had a bit of a hard time feeling like he deserved the title of 2015’s Sexiest Man Alive.
“I never feel that I’m an attractive, sexy person. I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don’t ever think of myself that way.”
