Nicki Minaj’s Ex Receives Praise After Filing Lawsuit, Fans Say Safaree Deserves Credit For Music

Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels may have gone their separate ways since calling off their longtime relationship last year, but it looks like the ongoing feud between Minaj and her ex, Safaree, is about to get even more complicated.

Yesterday, sources close to Safaree revealed Samuels’ plans to file a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj for unpaid contributions to Nicki’s most profitable albums, The Pinkprint, Pink Friday, and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

Similarly, Safaree’s sources argue that Safaree wants a portion of the proceeds from Nicki’s most recent singles, including her collaborative track with Chris Brown, Drake, and Lil Wayne for “Only,” and collaborations with Beyoncé on “Flawless (Remix)” and “Feeling Myself,” TMZ reports.

The site also reveals that Safaree Samuels is expecting a “large sum” from Nicki Minaj and has already begun to assemble a legal team to begin the process of the lawsuit “imminently.”

Safaree Samuels’ sources further explain that Safaree feels that he was “super involved” in creating music from Nicki Minaj’s most successful works, and is prepared to provide “boatloads” of evidence that show his involvement in the recording process including voice memos, witness accounts, and recordings from Nicki Minaj’s studio sessions.

Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels ended their nearly 12-year relationship in 2014 after rumors began suggesting that Nicki had begun a relationship with rapper Meek Mill. While both Nicki and Safaree continue to spat over the true reason behind their breakup, with both Minaj and Samuels claiming the other was unfaithful in their relationship, Safaree maintains that Nicki didn’t want him to pursue his own rap career.

While it’s unclear as to why Safaree Samuels is now deciding to pursue a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj despite his bitter split from Nicki last year, Safaree is already receiving an outpouring of support from fans who feel that Safaree deserves his rightful cut from Minaj’s fortune.

One Nicki Minaj fan writes, “I love Nicki, but I hope Safaree wins that case,” while another argues that Safaree deserves credit for his work on Minaj’s albums, “Ever since nicki an safaree broke up her tracks been weak.”

Despite Safaree’s sudden decision to take Nicki Minaj to court over unpaid album credits, it isn’t the first time Samuels and Minaj have feuded with one another over Safaree’s alleged ghostwriting claims.

Just weeks after Nicki Minaj’s current boyfriend, Meek Mill, accused Drake of needing a ghostwriter for their collaborative track, “R.I.C.O.,” Safaree released his own diss track aimed at Nicki by claiming that he was responsible for Minaj’s rhymes on The Pinkprint.

In Safaree’s diss track, “Lifeline,” Samuels raps, “My bars on The Pinkprint, no one’ll ever match,” before telling Meek Mill, “Wasn’t a secret young bull I knew everything / Hope you go platinum my n**** she need a better ring / I thought I left her so she could move on to better things.”

Nicki Minaj was swift in responding to Safaree’s ghostwriting accusations, telling fans during a tour stop in Toronto for her The Pinkprint tour that Safaree “don’t even know how to pronounce these mother******* words in my mother******* rap, b****,” Daily Mail reports.

Despite Nicki’s heated reaction to Safaree’s ghostwriting revelation, Safaree told TMZ just days later than he stands by his claims “100 [percent].”

“They both need to get up off my d***, you know I am not staying quiet anymore,” Safaree explained to paparazzi when asked about Nicki and Meek Mill’s reaction to the ghostwriting rumors. “You would think that n****s being on a world tour would have better things to do than worry about little old Stuntman.”

As of yet, Nicki Minaj has not responded to rumors of Safaree Samuels’ decision to file a lawsuit for unpaid album credits.
