Adele Says She’s Not A Recluse And She Is Over Her Ex

Adele is setting the record straight when it comes to her personal life. The British singer may be a private person, but she insists that she’s not a total recluse.

Adele surprised fans when she created an Instagram account and announced her new single, “Hello,” which quickly went platinum this weekend. Three weeks after the song’s release, the songstress is talking to the Observer Music about her success. Adele insists it’s not easy to maintain her normal life as she continues to break records and album sales. She revealed that the reason why she’s turned down public appearances and celebrity endorsements is that she wants to stay true to herself.

“What have I said no to? Everything you can imagine. Literally every f***ing thing. Books, clothes, food ranges, drink ranges, fitness ranges … that’s probably the funniest. They wanted me to be the face of a car. Toys. Apps. Candles. It’s like, I don’t want to endorse a line of nail varnishes, but thanks for asking.”

The 27-year-old soulful singer insists that she’s not hiding herself away from the world. Adele couldn’t believe the public’s reaction to her new album or her new song. She says that she tries very hard to keep her private life private, which is why you won’t see paparazzi photos of her going to and from places.

“I’m not a recluse. Can we clear that up, please? I didn’t stop going to shops. To parks. To museums. I just wasn’t photographed while doing it.”

Adele says that the birth of her 3-year-old son, Angelo, was the reason for her big musical comeback. She said that it felt “weird” taking a break from the music business, but believes it the right thing for her to do.

“I know some people thought I was mad for taking a break. Even I can see it was a bit weird. But I’m glad it happened. I think it was the right thing. It slowed everything down.”

The “Rolling in the Deep” singer also revealed that she’s over her ex-boyfriend, no matter what others may say. Adele’s last album in 2011, 21, was the bestselling album of the last decade. It sold over 1 million copies in its first week, and it’s still dominating charts to this day. In addition, it received seven Grammys, two Brit Awards, three AMAs, four MTV VMA awards, two Nickelodeon awards, a Glamour award, and a Canadian Juno. And those are just some of the awards she won! As of August, 2015, 21 is still being purchased a thousand times a week.

Adele’s fanbase is still growing. But while her last album is more of a breakup record, 25 is more of a “makeup record,” according to the singer. She talks about her new Martin Max-produced track, “Send My Love (to Your New Lover),” which is kind of a revenge song, according to the Guardian. Adele says it’s also a send-off song to the unidentified man who dumped her and inspired some of her most depressing songs on 21.

“This is my f**k you song. It sounds obvious, but I think you only learn to love again when you fall in love again. I’m in that place. My love is deep and true with my man, and that puts me in a position where I can finally reach out a hand to the ex. Let him know I’m over it.”

Adele may have released “Hello” three weeks ago, but she’s teasing some new music on Monday morning, November 16. She performed a surprise preview of her new song, “When We Were Young,” on 60 Minutes Australia. When the sneak peek for her upcoming interview was shared on Twitter, fans had a meltdown when she performed a whole new song off her 25 album.

Adele told SiriusXM that she recorded “When We Were Young” with singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. She says that the song has a very ’70s and “Tobias vibe as well.” The clip also features Adele laughing after she sings and declares, “It’s a whole new me.”
