Bindi Irwin Shares Sweet Message On Boyfriend’s Birthday, Wins Award For Conservation And Donates Money [Video]

Bindi Irwin is considered to be the favorite to win this season on Dancing With The Stars, and the dancing queen took the opportunity to wish her boyfriend, Chandler Powell a happy birthday via Instagram. On November 14, Powell turned 19.

“Happy birthday to a person who inspires me every day,” Bindi captioned the adorable black and white snap, which features Irwin and Powell snuggling, reports Us magazine. Bindi, who is a mere 17-years-old, has been with Chandler for a few months, and recently opened up about their relationship after being mum about her love life all summer.

Finally, in September, Irwin spilled the beans, and introduced her boyfriend to her fans. According to Irwin, her family loves Chandler, and is “so supportive” of her relationship. Bindi and her boyfriend met when he came to the Irwin family zoo in Australia in 2013. Irwin and the wake boarder bonded over a mutual love of conservation, reports Us.

According to Us, Bindi also captioned her birthday wishes by thanking her boyfriend for “the endless hugs, late night conversations about life, holding my hand when a loud noise scares me and laughing along with all of my Bindi moments.” Irwin also refers to Powell as a “soul who makes me smile no matter where I am in the world, despite any amount of distance.”

Because Chandler is a professional wake boarder who travels all the time, he and Bindi spend a lot of time apart. Bindi, who has her own career, travels as a conservationist, but has also landed an amount of celebrity cache, and is in demand both in Australia and in the United States.

Us reports that in September, Bindi Irwin and her boyfriend spoke to the magazine exclusively about their relationship and reuniting to spend time together in Los Angeles, where Bindi is participating in this season of Dancing With The Stars.

As for Powell, he’s enjoying watching Bindi “crushing it” on Dancing With The Stars, and “loved seeing the whole show!” Chandler confessed in the interview that he “expected [Bindi] to do really well” but admitted his lady love is “exceeding my expectations. I am really proud of her.”

According to Bindi Irwin, she is “really really lucky” to have Chandler in her life, and he’s “really sweet” the teenager gushes.

During her Dancing With The Stars stint, Bindi has taken the opportunity to further her conservation efforts, and has paid tribute to her father, the late Steve Irwin, several times in the show, often bringing the judges to tears. Irwin wants the world to remember her father, and has pledged to “continue to dedicate my life to making a difference in our world,” reports the Daily Mail.

For her conservation efforts both internationally and through the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, Bindi Irwin recently received the inaugural Young Achiever Award at this year’s Premier Sustainability Awards in Queensland, according to the Daily Mail. Wildlife Warriors is a non-profit charity that works to preserve, protect, and care for wildlife and their habitats.

In Instagram statement to her more than 844,000 followers, Bindi said she feels “truly honoured to have won the Premier’s Sustainability Award, back home in Australia,” and thanked “Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk for honouring me with this award.”

In her statement, Bindi also said that she has “donated the funds from this award to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. Helping to save precious lives,” in further efforts to promote wildlife conservation, the Daily Mail reports. Irwin also told her fans that “[w]e must work together to create positive change,” affirming that “I will continue to dedicate my life to making a difference in our world.”

In an interview on the Today show, Bindi Irwin said she wants to make her dad “proud” and her goal is to “make sure that everything he worked so hard for carries on.”
