‘Star Wars’ Cast Grant Dying Man’s Wish: ‘I Might Actually Die From Happiness’

Star Wars stars, directors, and producers have granted a dying man’s wish. A huge Star Wars fan dying of cancer has been given his last dying wish to see the new movie before he is gone. People reports Daniel Fleetwood grew up watching the original Star Wars movies and loved them tremendously. At the age of thirty-two, he has been diagnosed with connective tissue cancer and is expected to live for only two months, which means he might not be able to see the new Star Wars movie when it is released.

In an interview prior to seeing the movie, Daniel Fleetwood told People he might just die of happiness from seeing it.

“If I got to see the movie, I might actually die from happiness. Growing up, I would watch the movies over and over and analyze every little detail. I hope I get to see what happens.”

When Daniel’s family realized how badly he wanted to see the new Star Wars movie, they launched a Twitter campaign that went viral.

Once Mark Hamill and John Boyega got on board and retweeted the story, things really started to move forward. After seeing the movie, his wife, Ashley, posted on Facebook expressing her thanks to everyone who had helped make it happen, Time reported.

“We would like to thank the awesomely talented JJ Abrams for calling us yesterday to tell us Daniel was getting his wish granted! Today the wonderful Disney, Bad Robot and Lucasfilm teams made his final dream come true, Daniel just finished watching an unfinished version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!!!”

As for all other Star Wars fans, they will have to wait until December 18 to see the new flick. That’s not too far away, and in the meantime, Disney has released the full trailer to get fans psyched for the big day.

Teaser trailers also went up on Twitter.

Despite these trailers, and the ad campaign that has been launched, there are few details as to the plot of the new Star Wars movie. There have been leaks that fans have picked up on, but most of them are mere rumors – until the newest trailer came out. Now, there is a suggested link between the character Rey and Han Solo, which begs the question: Is Rey the daughter of Leia and Han Solo?

Vanity Fair reports that the original trailer played on the family inheritance of the force, too, with Luke Skywalker’s voice over indicating that he was talking to someone in his family, maybe a child of Han and Leia.

“The Force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it. You have that power too.”

In an Us Weekly interview, co-producer Kathleen Kennedy hints that twins tend to run in the Skywalker family. She also talks about how happy she is that this is the first time there has been a central, female lead in a Star Wars movie and how it shouldn’t be such a big deal in the year 2015.

“Yes! In fact, I am such a hero with my teenage daughters. They’re like, ‘Mom, this is fantastic!’ Again, these kinds of questions and issues shouldn’t be huge factors in our society any longer. It’s kind of amazing that these conversations that I remember certainly taking place at the beginning of my career many, many years ago, and even things I talked about with my own mother, are still occurring. It is quite staggering that we’re still having to make a big deal out of the fact that there’s a female protagonist.”

Fans will undoubtedly enjoy the female lead. As for all the rumors about the Star Wars movie and characters, fans will have to wait until December 18 to find out the truth.
