Win A Lunch Date With George Clooney? This Woman Did And It Was Everything She Expected
George Clooney jetted off to Edinburgh, Scotland recently for the purpose of promoting the Not On Our Watch charity he founded with Matt Damon and Brad Pitt. He was also visiting the Social Bite, a café that supports the homeless community. Clooney is becoming more known for his benevolent involvement in various charities and organizations that promote support of the homeless and those affected by war.
Fans of the Gravity star endured cold temperatures to get a glimpse of Clooney around 7 a.m. in the morning. The cafe offers a “suspended” coffee-and-food program that allows customers to pay for a homeless person to have food and beverage, as People shares.
While there, the star was also drawn to participate in a contest which would result in a fan getting a lunch date with Clooney.
As People notes, Heather McGowan became the envy of the town after the 32-year-old wedding planner won the contest that was hosted by the Scottish deals and events organization, itison.
McGowan discussed the excitement and surreal experience of sharing a meal with dreamy George Clooney.
“It still seems a bit surreal, and now that it’s over, I can try to absorb all the little bits of the day. He was the most charming man. Everyone in there was absolutely captivated by everything he had to say.”
The encounter took place at the Tigerlily Bar in Edinburgh and the victor shares that it was actually a beneficial circumstance when Clooney arrived a bit late, as it allowed her to calm down before the Hollywood heartthrob arrived.
“It let me get accustomed to the situation and compose myself a bit.”
Once George Clooney arrived, McGowan shared that the conversation flowed wonderfully and that they touched on an array of subjects from George and Amal’s wedding planning, American politics, sports and Clooney’s latest business ventures. McGowan expressed how it would have been a dream to have been a part of planning Amal and George’s big day last year. She was also happy to speak of all things American, as she was actually born in the U.S.
In regard to Clooney’s stop into Social Bite, the star had only wonderful things to share about the establishment’s efforts.
“It’s pretty amazing, and I’m looking forward to seeing it, I haven’t seen it up close yet. I like what they’re doing, I think it’s a very important cause. I think the idea that we can all participate in everyone’s difficulties is really important. You can help people out by buying a sandwich.”
The cafe’s motto, “Good food for a good cause,” employs many individuals who were once homeless and in need of support, themselves. The owner and founder of the initiative, Josh Littlejohn, is responsible for inviting Clooney to drop in for a bite, and relays his excitement over the program.
“For many of our team who until recently lived on the streets, this is a really amazing thing to look forward to.”
Staff, much like Heather McGowan, were just as impressed with Clooney. One employee took to Twitter to relay that George Clooney really was “beautiful” in the flesh.

As the Huffington Post noted, Clooney dropped over $1,000 while visiting the little cafe this week.
