Nohemi Gonzalez’s Facebook Photos: 23-Year-Old American Killed In Paris Attacks

The Facebook page of Nohemi Gonzalez shows the 23-year-old in a series of photos with her friends and other places. According to her Nohemi’s Facebook page, Gonzalez’s education involved being a student at the Strate – Ecole de Design in Sèvres, France. Google Maps shows just how close that location is to the Paris landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, or locales in Paris where the attacks occurred.

Unfortunately, Nohemi has been named as an American victim in the Paris attacks, reports NBC News. The death of Gonzalez was announced by California State University-Long Beach in a press release published on Saturday, November 14.

“California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) student Nohemi Gonzalez, 23, was killed during the attacks in and around Paris on November 13. Gonzalez, from El Monte, Calif., was a junior studying design. She was in Paris attending Strate College of Design during a semester abroad program. Specific details of her passing are not available at this time. The university will hold a vigil at 4 pm on Sunday to mourn Gonzalez’s passing and to grieve for all the victims of the atrocious attack. More information about the vigil will be shared as details are finalized.”

The statement by Cal State about Nohemi’s death used the hastags #‎parisattacks‬ ‪#‎csulb‬ and ‪#‎nohemi‬ as it repeated the bulk of the statement about Gonzalez on the university’s website.

“I’m deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Long Beach State University student Nohemi Gonzalez. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this sad time,” said President Jane Close Conoley. “Our university stands with our nearly eighty foreign exchange students from France as they struggle with this tragedy. We will extend all support necessary to comfort them. We will also extend support to all students, faculty and staff who are in need.”

The details about Nohemi’s death were not known or not released by the university. However, other reports say that Gonzalez was killed in or near a restaurant in Paris, KABC-TV reports, when gunmen opened fire in the Paris attacks.

Photos of Nohemi are appearing on Twitter and elsewhere online, as taken from Gonzalez’s Facebook page. With a unique name like Nohemi, Gonzalez’s Instagram and Twitter accounts were not readily found — although others that share the Nohemi name have Instagram and Twitter accounts under their names, those photos do not match the ones seen on Gonzalez’s actual Facebook page.

In a recent Facebook post, Gonzalez wrote of the difficulty in learning a new computer program in a new language, presumably French. On October 20 at 8:37 a.m., Nohemi wrote about making YouTube videos her best friend in trying to figure out the French technical process.

“Learning a 3D modeling computer program in a language I don’t know is up there In the top 3 hardest things I’ve ever had to do. ‪#‎YouTubeIsMyBFF‬

Nohemi was born on October 19, 1992, reports NBC News. The tribute photo showing Gonzalez’s birth date and her death date in the Paris attacks shows that Nohemi recently celebrated her birthday, turning 23 years of age less than one month ago.

On Facebook, the condolences are flowing in beneath the announcement about Gonzalez’s death in the Paris attacks. Nohemi reportedly traveled to Paris to realize her dreams and passions to study abroad.

“She was living life to the fullest. I pray her soul is resting peacefully and content.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, students from Cal State Long Beach that were also studying abroad with Nohemi are safe.
