Aerosmith’s ‘Global Warming Tour’ Kicks Off Tonight

Aerosmith is going back on tour. The Boston rock band will be kicking off their “Global Warming” tour tonight at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

The band is hitting the road to promote their 15th studio album, Music From Another Dimension!, something that wasn’t anticipated a year ago.

Lead singer Steven Tyler said:

“A year ago, nobody wanted to do an album. Now we’re all on the same page, and we’ve been burning the candle at both ends. It all comes together when the band gets on stage. It’s nothing but beautiful, and all the crap melts away. That’s when the band is a band, no matter what else is going on.”

Tyler has been spending most of his time on American Idol, which has caused a little tension in the band. Lead guitarist Joe Perry even talked about finding another singer. Thankfully, Tyler and Perry have made up and the band is getting back together to make music.

“We’ve already gone through all our problems…. Joe and I were fighting for a while, that’s no secret… But whatever demons or realities were going on in the band, it happens with bands that stay together for 40 years and have the success that we have.”

Perry agreed, saying that Aerosmith has always been able to put their differences aside while playing on stage.

“It’s only as good as those two hours onstage. The rest of it, I have no idea how it works. With Aerosmith, we put one foot in front of the other and hope for the best.”

Perry said that the band will be playing a few songs from the new album during the “Global Warming” tour, but assured fans that they would also here some Aerosmith classics. Perry said:

“Playing half of (Music From Another Dimension) would not serve the audience. We have a catalog going back 40 years, and every classic we take out of the set is going to be missed by some kid who hasn’t heard it live yet, whether it’s Walk This Way, Dream On or Jaded. We have to honor that. It’s going to be a real rock ‘n’ roll show.”
