Captain America To Die In ‘Civil War’? More Predictions Ahead Of First Trailer Premiere During ‘Star Wars’

With the Marvel Comics Universe set to expand in the coming years, many fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Captain America: Civil War. While the film is still a number of months away from hitting theaters, rumors have been circulating ahead of the coming trailer that Captain America (Chris Evans) might be set to meet his end in the film.

According to Movie Pilot, the idea of Captain America dying is not out of the realm of possibility. In fact, the character met a similar end in the comics, which leaves open the possibility that the next movie might follow suit and kill off the leader of the Avengers.

If this does happen, then it would likely drive Tony Stark into exile after the fallout of the fighting between the superheroes. This would then lend itself to become a major plot point for the upcoming Avengers movie. Additionally, Captain America’s death might also mean that a new character takes up his mantle.

According to Movie News Guide, there is a possibility that either Sam Wilson or Bucky might end up becoming the new Captain America. That being said, it is also likely that Cap is brought back to life by the Sorcerer Supreme, which would rule out the likelihood of a new Captain America.

Speaking of the Sorcerer Supreme, this part of the storyline seems more likely now that Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play the lead role in the upcoming movie, Doctor Strange. It is expected that Doctor Strange will be making a post-credits appearance in Captain America: Civil War. If that is the case, then it would certainly open the door for Captain America’s resurrection at some point in the coming Avengers movie.

Meanwhile, the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War is expected to be released soon. In fact, Comic Book is reporting that the Russo Brothers recently showed the trailer for the film during a movie event in Cleveland. While it is not clear when the trailer will be officially released to a wider audience, it is thought that it might play before showings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

At the same time, even though we are still a good month away from the release of the new Star Wars, some details concerning the trailer have been released by Heroic Hollywood. With that in mind, the trailer was leaked online and featured a number of characters that will play a large role in the movie.

In fact, in the leaked trailer, Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) are shown controlling a drone that is tracking a vehicle. Once they confirm that the vehicle is their intended target, the two heroes swoop in and take it down.

In addition to Falcon and Black Widow, a new villain, Crossbones (Frank Grillo), is also featured in the trailer. Apparently, Crossbones is shown wielding a magnetic explosive device that sticks to Captain America’s shield. This sequence shows the apparent destruction of Cap’s famous shield, which will undoubtedly lessen his abilities in the film and could be one reason why he doesn’t survive to see the end of the movie.

Elsewhere, according to International Business Times, both Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and The Vision (Paul Bettany) will also be featured in the film. Although it still isn’t known which character Martin Freeman will be playing, he is also featured in the trailer during a helicopter scene.

With the movie still a few months from its release, hopefully more details concerning Captain America’s death will be released. Captain America: Civil War is set to premiere in theaters May 6, 2016.
