Louis Tomlinson Hints That New Song ‘Perfect’ Is About Taylor Swift

While One Direction is enjoying the success of their new single, “Perfect,” co-writer of the pop tune, Louis Tomlinson hinted this week that the song was inspired by Taylor Swift, and her previous relationship with Harry Styles.

People reported that Tomlinson was happy to open up about the meaning of the band’s new hit single from their latest album, Made in the A.M., while his bandmate Styles, who also co-wrote the tune, wasn’t ready to reveal any inside information. Tomlinson, never one to remain mum, didn’t come out and say her name directly, but when asked if the song was about Taylor Swift, the boy bander confirmed.

“I think everybody draws from personal experiences, so of course to a degree I’m sure that influenced some of it. Down to specifics to who that song is exactly about, that’s fan’s interpretation, I suppose.”

Styles agreed that the song was up to interpretation by the fans, but when questioned if the song was about his former love, he declined to answer.

“I think people interpret songs in different ways. I’m never going to tell someone what a song’s about because I feel like it’s up to them.”

Hollywood Life reports that Swift is rumored to be happy about the song, at least according to an undisclosed source. So far, Taylor hasn’t publicly confirmed her feelings about “Perfect,” but the insider insists that the “Shake it Off” singer loves the new One Direction tune, even if she won’t talk about its meaning.

“Taylor isn’t coming out and bragging that the song’s about her, but the word is she’s happy about it. It’s a great song, why wouldn’t she be?”

Meanwhile, as One Direction’s break in March moves closer and closer, Tomlinson revealed that the hiatus doesn’t mean the fun will end with his bandmates. In fact, the pop singer stated that he’s planning a “lads holiday” with his three bandmates, which could be “massive.”

“We talk about having a lads’ holiday, which could be massive. Even when we have like, two weeks off, by the time we have a couple days off and get back to work, we’re all raring to see each other again.”

Styles revealed that he’s ready to lose his commitments and hectic schedule for a while, and simply have relaxing days with friends and family. Liam Payne, affectionately known as the “Daddy Directioner” of the band, shares the same sentiments as Styles, and feels that getting back to reality will be good for him.

“It’s just about catching up with friends and family and just having a bit of a realization for how amazing the time in the band has been so far.”

One Direction’s much anticipated 5th album was released on November 13, and it immediately shot to No. 2 on the iTunes U.S. sales charts on the first day of its release. The album landed behind Justin Bieber’s new album, Purpose, which was also released on November 13. Yet, there are no hard feelings or competition between One Direction and Bieber. According to Niall Horan, it’s just part of the music business.

“It’s happened to us before. We’ve released albums on the same day as Rihanna and stuff like that, but it just happens to be – on the internet – made into a big deal that it’s Bieber.”

The boys recently wrapped up the European leg of their On the Road Again (OTRA) tour, but they’ll be back in the U.S. on December 1 for a concert at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, as part of the Jingle Ball lineup. On December 2, you can catch Louis Tomlinson and rest of the guys at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, followed by a December 4 concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
