Demi Lovato Vs Starbucks: Singer Has Solution For Those Red Cups

Demi Lovato is offering her input on that Starbucks controversy, which had most people talking about it all week long.

In case you didn’t know, the internet freaked out when Starbucks announced its new holiday themed cups. They’re just red and white cups. They don’t have any cute Christmas decorations like ornaments, snowflakes, or snowmen. Former pastor Joshua Feuerstein was angry over Starbucks’ new cups, and took to his Facebook page to express his rage. He also asked his followers to “trick” Starbuck baristas by saying “Merry Christmas” instead of their actual names.

The new Starbucks cups have caused a controversy all over social media. Celebrities like Candace Cameron-Bure and Rob Lowe have been giving their input on the controversy. Even Dunkin’ Donuts got in on the act by showing off their new cups, in all its holiday glory.

But now Demi Lovato is the latest celebrity who caught wind of the crazy Starbucks controversy. She first tweeted: “Why doesn’t @Starbucks at least make the cups about the actual season: winter? (snowflakes, snowmen…etc.).”

Then the 22-year-old “Confident” singer gave it some additional thought. “Also, why do we care so much about a cup….??” she tweeted.

But Demi Lovato is sticking to her love of mugs.

“Mugs are where it’s at anyways….” The former Disney star wrote along with the mug and hands up emojis.

The singer and actress was poking fun at her awkward and adorable interview back in September. The lover of puns was asked her favorite dish during an interview on a radio show.

“My favorite dish…I like mugs because they’re very comfortable in your hand, and they hold hot things that you don’t have to touch…so, you know, coffee, hot tea.”

Before giving an answer, Demi looked away from the reporter, thinking about what to say. After she gives her response, she smiles coyly at the camera. Some of Demi’s fans thought that she was confused over the question, but she insisted on Twitter that it was just a joke.

“For anybody who actually thinks I misunderstood the ‘favorite dish’ question – you clearly don’t get my sense of humor. I was homeschooled but I’m not that stupid.”

The very next day, Demi Lovato took to Instagram to share a “mug shot,” a selfie in which she was covered in mugs. She didn’t include a caption, but she did include the hash tags #mugshot, #coolforthesummer, #confidentoctober16 and #ilovemugs.

Two weeks after Demi’s Mug Gate 2015 took over social media, she created another funny pun. This time, it was during a BBC Radio 1’s School Run segment where she drove three lucky fans home from school. One of the girls told Demi that they “inherited genes and stuff,” to which the singer coyly responded: “OK. That’s good. Like hand-me-down-clothing?”

The girl quickly corrected, and Demi responded: “Right. Genetics. Ok. Genes. Got it?”

Then during Halloween, Demi Lovato dressed up as a “Trap Queen.” She gave her own twist on the costume by wearing a cape with actual animal traps. Demi completed her humorous costume with a bedazzled tiara and a sash that read “Trap Queen.”

Joking aside, Demi Lovato does have a point with the Starbucks coffee. The company said that they wanted to make their cups appear more “seasonal,” but they fell flat by having a plain cup. But Lovato’s idea about switching out cups for mugs is even better. It could help Starbucks’ issues with their recycling efforts, or lack thereof.
