Jessa Seewald Reveals All About Her Scary Home Birth

Jessa Duggar Seewald had big plans to have a home birth with her baby boy, just like her mom has done in the past. Things didn’t end up going as planned, though. Jessa did have her baby at home, but afterward she had to be rushed to the hospital. People was able to catch up with Jessa Seewald and get all of the details of what happened on that scary night. Her delivery ended up lasting almost 48 hours.

Jessa is now admitting that labor is hard and was different than what she had expected going into it. Seewald’s son was born at 21.5 inches and weighing nine pounds, 11 ounces. Jessa had about 10 hours of contractions and almost had to head to the hospital to have her little boy. Luckily, she was able to have him at home, but after the birth, things didn’t go the way that Jessa had expected, and she ended up in an ambulance and being taken to the hospital due to excessive bleeding. Seewald admitted that she almost went to the hospital during childbirth.

“I said, ‘That’s it! I’m done! I am going to the hospital and I’m going to get an epidural,’ They asked me if I really wanted to do that and I said, ‘No, I don’t, but I do.’ I wanted to try natural if at all possible.”

Ben Seewald admits that it was hard to see Jessa in that much pain. After their son was born, Michelle Duggar called 911 due to Jessa bleeding too much. Michelle was very calm during it all, but she requested the ambulance to help her daughter right away. Jessa did say she was “awake and alert” during it all. Seewald went on to explain how hard it was to change her birth plan.

“I had dreamed about those first moments, getting to breastfeed right away, all that. And so when I had to go to the hospital, it was a shock.”

Jessa Seewald did have to stay at the hospital for one night, and she even had a blood transfusion while she was there. Jessa’s son was brought to her at one point, but this does explain some of the pictures that fans were confused about when they heard that Jessa went to the hospital. Her son was doing just fine and was not the one who needed to be taken to the hospital to be taken care of at all. Jessa and Ben actually recently shared that they haven’t even picked a middle name for their baby, and as soon as they do, they will share it.

People shared that Jessa is now explaining why they haven’t picked out a name for their son yet. Jessa and Ben want to give their son a name that has meaning and is strong. They don’t just want to pick any random name for their little boy. Jessa and Ben don’t have plans to use a letter theme like her parents or brother Josh did with their children. They liked the idea of getting to meet their son before deciding on his name. When they have the name all picked out, then Jessa and Ben will share it with their fans.
