Tamar Braxton Drops Out Of ‘DTWS’ After Blood Clots Discovered In Her Lungs

It looks like Tamar Braxton has been forced to drop out of Dancing with the Stars for the rest of the season. This upsetting news was announced on Wednesday on her Instagram and Twitter, where Braxton let everyone know that she will no longer be dancing for that Mirror Ball Trophy. She said that it was because of pulmonary embolism that she can no longer compete.

While she was thought to have been suffering from a bad case of pneumonia, it turns out that Braxton actually has blood clots in her lungs. She is suffering from a pulmonary embolism, which is very serious. She explained everything as she wrote out her heartfelt message.

“With a Heavy heart I regret to inform you that my season of #dwts has to come to an end along with the rest of my tour dates with @musicbykem. After yesterday’s final #dwts performance I went back to the hospital (after the doctors didn’t want me to leave in the first place) only to find out that I don’t have pneumonia but something way more serious and that is having several P.E.’s (blood clots in both sides of my lungs).”

In the photo is Braxton in her hospital bed with her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, by her side. They both look very disappointed, but they realize that her health is always a priority over the competition. Val had this to say to everyone who has called to vote for them this season.

“To everyone that’s been supportive and understanding… thank you!! Your words mean a lot. You mean the world, to Tamar and I. God bless you.”

Tamar had been sick as seen on the dance competition on Monday night when she was bad enough to have to be rushed to the ER during the final dress rehearsal. No one knew, not even Val, if she would make it back to continue with the live show. However, she did return after checking herself out of the hospital to dance with Val, as well as Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess in their rumba dance-off. Her return saved her from elimination.

The 38-year-old host of The Real looked terrible after the rumba. It was quite obvious to everyone that Braxton really shouldn’t have been dancing, but she mentioned that she didn’t want to let anyone down, especially Nick Carter. Tamar looked like she was having trouble breathing before and after they danced. Even Nick noticed just how unstable she was, according to Us Magazine. She did quite well considering how bad she felt, but she did have to be helped off the dance floor. No one at that point knew just how serious her condition was.

According to the Mayo Clinic, pulmonary embolism can be life-threatening and is nothing to take lightly. This medical condition blocks blood flow to the lungs, which can cause shortness of breath, a bad cough, and even chest pain.

Tamar Braxton definitely had trouble breathing on Monday night. It is heartbreaking for her and Val, as she was dancing beautifully and looked like she was in the running to make it into the finals. However, Braxton does consider herself a winner despite having to quit.

“In TRUE #tamartian form I must go about this the exact same way as I would anything else. I woke up to a mirror and saw myself this morning and that makes me the winner because that almost wasn’t the case.”

Medical issues are not uncommon on Dancing with the Stars. This season also had contestant Kim Zolciak-Biermann, who was partnered up with pro dancer Tony Dovolani, being eliminated by the show after she had a mini-stroke during the competition. Because she could not get on a plane to fly back to dance, the rules stated that she could no longer compete. If Tamar was not able to make it back to the dance floor on Monday, she would have been disqualified as well.

Val Chmerkovskiy is not the only one who is disappointed that Tamara Braxton has to quit DWTS. Many of the fans who voted for this couple will also be bummed that she is not returning, but they are sure to wish her well during her health crisis.
