Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are among the lucky supermodels who will strut at the next Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. But while Angels Lily Aldridge, who is going to sport the $2 million Fantasy Bra, Alessandra Ambrósio, Adrianna Lima, Behati Prinsloo and Candice Swanepoel are experienced performers in the legendary event, Kendall and Gigi are agog at getting their chance for the first time, reported People.
And it takes more than fame to make it through the tough selection process. Showing just what happens, Victoria’s Secret shared a video that portrays the casting process that includes about 500 wannabe Angels. Out of those models, only 45 make it.
“I saw close to 300 in the first two days of casting, which I do on my own with my team,” explained Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show casting director John Pfeiffer. “And in the two days of call-backs, I try to keep it to a maximum of 100 girls.”
Jenner and Hadid were among the lucky few. But narrowing it down is challenging, admitted the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show team.
“You’re meant to be objective about it, but you know how hard all the girls have worked for it,” clarified executive producer Ed Razek.
“There’s several who are either fighting back tears or literally crying in here today because there’s such a buildup, and they’ve been working for it and wanting it so badly,” noted another executive producer for the show, Monica Mitro.
“Every year it feels like it’s the very, very first show and one thing that I do all year long is really try to … to work as hard as I can,” said Goulart tearfully. “So I can deserve to be here, to be a part of the moment that only happens at the show, at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be broadcast December 8 on CBS.
When it comes to maintaining those supermodel figures, Gigi and Kendall are aware that how they look plays an essential role in their success. And Hadid credits her mother, Yolanda Foster, for helping her, reported Refinery 29.
“I grew up on a ranch with horses, so I grew up watching my mom [there]. She never really wore makeup at the barn, and she was very free and nature-oriented. She drank a lot of water, and was always so into the purest forms of everything. So I’ve always been a really big fan of just putting the purest stuff in your body,” explained Gigi.
Hadid isn’t an advocate of crash-dieting to look bikini-beautiful in summer.
Gigi also praises Kendall Jenner for her attention to her skin. Hadid revealed that Kendall washes her face as soon as she gets home. But Jenner’s pal believes that above all, diet and exercise are the keys to beauty.
Hadid and her mom Yolanda have become increasingly close since Foster shared her battle with Lyme disease, reported Us Weekly.
“Right now she’s going through a lot, so even a little FaceTime once in a while helps,” said Gigi.
Yolanda has suffered for three years with Lyme disease, with symptoms varying but at times including even the loss of her ability to write coherently, read, or view TV.
“It feels like someone came in and confiscated my brain and tied my hands behind my back to just watch and see life go by without me participating in it,” confessed Foster.
As for staying supermodel slim, Kendall Jenner has developed her own diet and fitness regime, reported Elle.
Drinking as much as 12 cups daily, Kendall depends on a lemongrass-green detox tea. Jenner snacks on apples and also eats lean protein, other fruits, and veggies. For fitness, Jenner wants to get back into running.
