The Last of Us Won’t Be Out Until 2013

No firm date was ever set for The Last of Us, but Sony did say that a release at some point around late 2012 / early 2013 was expected. Now we can rule one of those two dates out.

On last night’s episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley stopped by to show off some gameplay footage of The Last of Us, and in the process they revealed that the game isn’t due out until early 2013 at the earliest.

As for the gameplay footage, there wasn’t anything new to see for those of you who caught The Last of Us‘ E3 2012 demonstration. The segment of the game was the same as what we saw from E3, minus a few expletives and a guy getting half of his face blown off by a shotgun. ‘Cuz, you know, television.

If for some reason you missed out on the Last of Us E3 demo, or you just want to watch it with the added flavor of Jimmy Fallon commentary, you can check out a clip of the demonstration, and hear the developers drop the date, in the video embed below.
