Pastor Says Better To ‘Drown Your Children’ Than Let Them Read Homosexual Harry Potter Literature

A right-wing pastor went on a bizarre rant recently that included suggesting that parents should drown their children rather than let them read the “homosexual” Harry Potter books.

Kevin Swanson was speaking at the National Religious Liberties Conference, where he hit out against abortion, against the Harry Potter series of books, and even a character by the name of Hiccup from an animated movie, How To Train Your Dragon.

Swanson advised his listeners that “we are on the very cusp of judgement as I see it.” He went on to call America to repent, including repentance of abortion, “the hundreds of millions of dead bodies, I don’t know how many.”

He particularly bashed JK Rowling’s classic books in the Harry Potter series. Rowling had revealed that the character Albus Dumbledore was gay after the series of books was completed, adding that he was attracted to his former rival, Gellert Grindelwald.

This fact outraged Swanson, who among other portions of his rant said, “America, repent of Harry Potter. Repent that Dumbledore emerged as a homosexual mentor for Harry Potter.” He even issued pamphlets saying that Harry Potter was turning America’s youth gay.

He added that Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon was another character children should not be exposed to.

“Children are raised to be stumbled by the Dumbledores and Hiccups on How to Train Your Dragon.”

Swanson then went on to say that for tens of millions of parents “it would be better that a millstone be hung around their neck and they be drowned at the bottom of the sea,” than they should read the popular books.

According to the Mirror Online, this isn’t the first time Swanson has gone into rant mode over children’s entertainment. He reportedly found the Disney film Frozen to be “very evil” gay propaganda in the past.

Speaking of the popular animated film, Swanson said that it makes you wonder if maybe there’s something very evil happening.

“I wonder if people are thinking: ‘You know I think this cute little movie is going to indoctrinate my 5-year-old to be a lesbian or treat homosexuality or bestiality in a light sort of way’.”

Swanson even went on to say that should the Devil come to him for evil investment advice, he would have told him, “Buy Disney in 1984.”

Swanson’s comments were widely ridiculed on the social media, including comments on the YouTube video itself, where one person rightly asked, “If God will judge America for Harry Potter, but not Twilight, then He is not worthy of worship.”

Another YouTube commenter said, “Slavery, killing of 25 million native Americans, the civil war fought to enslave humans, pearl harbor attack, holocaust, Depression, Jim Crow, Vietnam, domestic abuse, murder rape, guns everywhere, school and theater shootings….ALLLLLLLL ignored by GOD. But two men kissing each other? WATCH OUT!!!”

Besides Swanson suggesting that children should rather be drowned than read the popular Harry Potter books, according to Salon, two other speakers at the event suggested that gay people deserved to be executed.

Reverend Phillip Kayser apparently approves of executing gay people, but says he thinks it unlikely that this could happen in America. Joel McDurmon, who is president of the Christian organization American Vision, has apparently written in the past that the homosexual act “as a civil crime deserves the death penalty.”
