GoFundMe Page Raises Thousands For Homeless Father Of One James Moss

A homeless father of one has been inundated with help and has had over $30,000 provided for him by strangers after he starred in a viral video that was created by Leon Logothetis.

James Moss is a homeless single father that met Logothetis, a philanthropist and motivational speaker, on the streets of Denver, Colorado, who was filming a segment for his YouTube series #GoBeKind Tour. In this show, Logothetis travels across the world and tries to assist people with acts of kindness.

During the latest episode, Logothetis met James Moss, who explained that he had traveled and moved to Colorado from New York in order to try and provide his 1-year-old son Zhi with a better life.

However, tragedy struck when James Moss arrived in Denver when their original housing arrangements fell through. James had only traveled to the city after a friend offered him a job and a place to live. This left James and Zhi immediately looking for shelter and housing just two days after arriving in their town.

Speaking about his plight, James Moss declared, “Everything I do is for him. The reason I made this move is for him. To be in a peaceful place, the mountains, I want him to experience things that I missed growing up.”

Speaking to Logothetis, Moss tried to remain positive, explaining, “You have to be brought down to your humblest point so you can appreciate other things that are waiting for you.”

Moss added that Zhi “fuels the fire” inside him, which means that his spirit is able to remain high despite the problems that they have encountered. Moss even declared, “I never expected it to be like this, but it’s like this.”

Logothetis immediately looked to try and assist James Moss though, and after hearing his story he thanked him for sharing his story and then told the father of one that he was going to give him $1,000 as well as putting the pair up in a hotel for seven days.

This immediately led Moss to break down in tears with gratitude before he then told Logothetis, “you gotta be freaking kidding me, man.” You can watch the episode below.

Clearly, James Moss’ episode of #GoBeKind Tour clearly resonated. After being watched by over 700,000 people, a GoFundMe Page was set up by Kayla Heskett of Goodland, Kansas, who was inspired to try and help out James and Zhi even further after she learnt that following Logothetis’ act of generosity, the pair had still been sleeping in a shelter for month.

She wrote, “He and James shared their story and Leon helped him with a weeks stay in a hotel and 1,000 dollars. That’s been a month ago. Today when I spoke to James and Leon, James is currently in a shelter with his almost two year old son. He currently has a job as a barber but has no reliable transportation.”

Heskett added, “We are trying to raise money for James to get a reliable vehicle with the brutal colorado weather that is coming so that his son won’t be out in freezing temperatures walking to work with his dad. (James takes his son to work with him currently because he’s in need of daycare).”

Kayla Heskett has now raised $33,344, which is over $13,000 more than the $20,000 she originally aimed to get Moss and his son.

James Moss has admitted to Fox 31 that he has been completely blown away by the reaction, declaring, “These people are awesome. Like angels in the sky. I never though a small act of kindness like that would spark such a huge chain reaction. It blew my mind I’m still in shock.” Moss also uploaded a video that documented him and Zhi’s gratitude.
