Adele’s Drunk Tweets Gets Singer Banned From Twitter — Who Is The Management Team?

If Adele drunk tweets on Twitter ever again, it would be because she somehow completely bypassed her management team. Adele recently admitted that she was effectively banned by her managers in the past due to some unfortunate tweets, and now everything we see from Adele’s Twitter account is apparently filtered by her managers.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, the revelation over Adele’s drunk tweets came out a BBC special with Graham Norton. An audience member asked, “Rumor has it you’re not allowed to access your own Twitter account.”

“That is true, yeah,” Adele confirmed with a laugh. “I’m not a drinker anymore, but when Twitter first came out, I was drunk-tweeting and nearly put my foot in quite a few times. So my management decided that you have to go through two people, and then it has to be signed off by someone.”

Adele did not give any examples of her virtual drunken rampages on Twitter, but she did assure the audience that all of Adele’s Twitter tweets come directly from her.

“They’re all my Tweets. No one writes my Tweets. They just post them for me,” she added.

This practice is actually fairly common with celebrity management teams. Often times, a major celebrity might have a management team creating announcements and tweets on their behalf in order to promote certain information. Even the funny comments may not even be directly from the celebrity.

For example, George Takei’s Facebook jokes may have fans going “oh myyy” all the time, but it turns out that it’s not always him.

“I have Brad, my husband, to help me and interns to assist. What is important is the reliability of my posts being there to greet my fans with a smile or a giggle every morning. That’s how we keep on growing,” Takei said, according to Wired. “The commentaries are mine. They are authentically mine, I assure you.”

But who exactly is responsible for making certain that Adele’s drunk tweets never ever see the light of day again? While we don’t know exactly who is in charge of Adele’s Twitter musings, we do know that Adele’s management team is largely a family business. Jonathan Dickins and his sister, Lucy, are the manager and agent, respectively, but other managers include Kirk Sommer, Brad Hunner, and Rose Moon.

Jonathan Dickins is the founder of September Management. During an opening address at the 2012 Music Week Awards, Adele presented Dickins with a “Manager Of The Year” award. “I didn’t meet any other managers, I only met him – and I made my mind up that I wanted him to manage me before he made his mind up that he wanted to manage me,” she said at the time.

The Dickins family business goes back a long way. Percy Dickins co-founded NME Magazine and invented the pop chart. Jonathan’s father and uncle are both involved in the music industry, with his father being the booking agent for music artists such as Bob Dylan, Diana Ross, Neil Young, and Jamiroquai.

“My family were and are so involved in the business, you couldn’t help but be a little nervous about it,” Dickins explained to Minnie Melange. “Though, I’ll be honest, my transition into the music industry would not have been as smooth without some of those connections but having a family in the industry can be both your greatest strength and your biggest weakness. I began in the industry by working with my uncle, (Rob Dickins) someone that I get on very well with but it was only when I began to work for myself that I really felt like I was no longer in my family’s shadow. I’ve been really lucky!”
