Black Friday Deals For Gamers And Those That Love Them

Halloween is behind, Christmas is still far ahead, and right in-between rests Thanksgiving. While many plan guest lists, travel arrangements, and menus, some have already begun planning their Christmas shopping. The fights and mania surrounding Black Friday are the stuff of legend, and for good reason. Shoppers who snag the coveted doorbuster deals can get huge savings on everything from televisions to video game consoles. For shoppers hungry for bargains and spectacle, there’s no better moment in the Christmas shopping season to find both than on Black Friday.

While in years past, retailers released Black Friday deals on Thanksgiving; however, stiff competition for shoppers and their dollars has prompted many retailers to tip their hands as early as Halloween. What bargains can eager gamers look forward to on Black Friday 2015?

If you still haven’t joined the current generation of video game consoles, Black Friday is the perfect time to jump in, provided you do a bit of research. According to BFAdsnet, on Black Friday 2015, GameStop will feature a PlayStation 4 bundle that includes Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and an Xbox One bundle that includes Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for $299.99 each. That’s a savings of $50.

The GameStop deal is good, but the best deal is at Meijer. Black Friday shoppers who spend their money at a Meijer supermarket can grab the same deal available at GameStop, but shoppers will also receive a $50 coupon for their next shopping trip. There is a catch. Customers can only receive two coupons, and can’t use the coupons until after Black Friday. Meijer also only operates in the midwestern United States, so shoppers on both coasts will have to make do with GameStop.

The most amazing deal goes to Dell. According to IGN, shoppers can grab an Xbox One bundle that includes Gears of War: Ultimate Edition,Fallout 4, and an extra controller for $299.99 beginning at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. That’s a savings of $170. Don’t wait for Black Friday to grab the Dell discount, as quantities are limited, and Fallout 4 is one of the most highly-anticipated video games of 2015. This is an online deal, so no cold weather or long lines required.

If you missed out on the last console generation, or have children in your life that are ready for a console, but not quite ready for one with a several hundred dollar price tag, GameStop has deals for you, too. Black Friday shoppers can pick up either a pre-owned PlayStation 3 or a pre-owned Xbox 360 for $119, or a Wii for $49.99. Versions of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with smaller hard drives will only set you back $79. On Black Friday, all pre-owned products will be buy two get one free.

If the idea of standing in line in the cold while fighting off the traditional turkey coma doesn’t appeal to you, never fear. There is actually a solid case to be made for not participating in Black Friday sales. According to CNET, Black Friday has slowly become Black November. In response to last year’s outcry by consumers of the increasing number of retailers opening their doors on Thanksgiving, a few retailers agreed to shut their doors on turkey day and give their employees time with their loved ones. GameStop will be closed on Thanksgiving, as will Fry’s Electronics.

To maximize sales, a few retailers have launched discounts well ahead of Black Friday. Amazon, Newegg, and Walmart each have daily discounts leading up to Black Friday. The console discounts at other retailers thus far haven’t been as amazing as those promised by GameStop and Meijer, but an extra $40 may be well worth it to check off an item on your shopping list from the comfort of your own home.

There’s also Cyber Monday, the Black Friday of online retailers. Details about Cyber Monday 2015 are sparse, but Amazon, Walmart, and Target have already set up placeholder pages on their respective websites.

If you have your heart set on Black Friday 2015, now is the time to plan your attack.
