Katy Perry is one of the most adored pop singers of the early 21st century. So is Taylor Swift. What sets the two apart? Well, lately it seems to be the amount of money flowing into their bank accounts. Even though Katy Perry didn’t sell as many albums as Swift, she still cleaned house financially, thanks in large part to her Prismatic World Tour. Katy Perry’s total earnings for the past twelve months were a whopping $135 million! Katy Perry’s earnings also took a boost from her endorsement deals with Claire’s, Cover Girl, and Coty.
Katy Perry told Forbes in an interview that she is proud of herself and her position.
“I am proud of my position as a boss, as a person that runs my own company. I’m an entrepreneur… I don’t want to shy away from it. I actually want to kind of grab it by its balls.”
Katy Perry is wowing the crowd even when not on tour. On Wednesday night, she performed at the David Lynch Foundation’s Change Begins Within benefit concert at Carnegie Hall along with Sting and Jerry Seinfeld. Funds were being raised to teach transcendental meditation in New York City.
When Katy Perry took to the stage, she was dressed all in pink and even looked as though she was all tied up with a pretty pink bow.

She even had a full string ensemble and classical ballerinas for accompaniment. Katy Perry told Entertainment Weekly how much of a positive effect meditation has had on her life.
“You know when you have a crappy day or something that doesn’t want to go right? I always excuse myself for twenty minutes, and then I’m back.”
Earlier the same day, Katy Perry arrived at the benefit gala, decked out in a black jumpsuit that included fancy wings. She looked stunning!

So who else cleaned up besides Katy Perry on the Forbes list of top-earning musicians? Taylor Swift did come in second at $80 million and Fleetwood Mac came in third at $59.5 million. Fourth on the list was Lady Gaga at $59 million, and Beyoncé came in at No. 5 at $54.5 million.
Aside from her work and her appearances at the David Lynch Foundation fundraiser, Katy Perry also recently attended the Met Gala. She was wearing the same graffiti designer as Madonna and they posed for a photo op.

However, Katy had seen Madonna the previous week when she joined Madonna onstage at her concert in Los Angeles and things got a little naughty. According to Hollywood Life, Katy got onstage and Madonna spanked her and then pretended to hump her.
It did look pretty naughty as posted on Instagram by Madonna.
Katy Perry also posted her own version of the events on Instagram.
Clearly, Madonna and Katy Perry are good friends, but Madonna also has respect for Taylor Swift. Entertainment Weekly reports that Madonna told Rolling Stone magazine that in some ways she is similar to Taylor Swift.
“She has an opinion, and she’s going against the norm. So in that respect, she is similar to me, yeah. And also, people just want to give her a hard time all the time because they think she’s a goody-two-shoes, so of course I want to embrace her.”
Will Katy Perry beat out Taylor Swift in the money department again next year? Who is to say? Swift might have a chance to pull ahead. But in the end, does it really matter when you’re making that much money? Chances are, both of them can live very comfortably with what they have.
