‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Glenn May Still Be Alive But Is Not Returning For A While

The Walking Dead could have a huge twist coming up, with spoilers indicating that Glenn wasn’t really killed and could be returning to the show within a couple of weeks.

Fans watched in shock as Glenn Rhee was surrounded by a horde of walkers and was seemingly torn apart. Even for a show known for killing off major characters, it came as a big surprise to many fans and led to some visceral reactions on social media.

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple did his best to explain Glenn’s apparent death, but in doing so may have revealed another potential spoiler for The Walking Dead. In a note to fans through the Talking Dead podcast, Gimple said that Glenn may be dead but isn’t entirely gone.

He said the following (via Variety).

“And knowing you’d all be talking and feeling and commiserating, I knew we should say something about it, lest our silence say something we didn’t mean to say or not say. So I’ll say this: In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn, or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story, to help complete the story.”

Since the apparent on-screen death, fans have noted that Steven Yeun’s name was removed from the opening credits of the show, something that’s been done in the past when characters were killed off.

But some spoilers claim that fans of The Walking Dead could be seeing Glenn again very soon. Celeb Dirty Laundry notes that there are a number of signs pointing to Glenn’s return and an explanation of why his name was out of the credits so quickly.

“So why remove Steven Yeun from the credits? Most likely to toy with eagle-eyed fans. It seems AMC has learned its lesson after accidently spoiling the death of Shane (Jon Bernthal), and is going to greater measures to protect its shock value.”

The report went on to add that Glenn will be returning to The Walking Dead — but not in the immediate future. Episode 5 will feature the Wolves’ attack on Alexandria, and Episode 6 will be focused on Daryl.

The exact return of Glenn still has some mystery, the report added.

“Glenn’s return has also been rumored to involve another character. Some theories suggest Enid will be involved with the pizza boy’s rescue, while others believe Glenn’s return will [introduce] Paul Monroe a.k.a. Jesus. Tom Payne has been cast to portray the role of Jesus, but isn’t due to show up in episode 10.”

E! News pointed out that there would be plenty of precedent for Glenn still being alive. Plenty of shows have faked out fans with what appear to be major character deaths, only to have them return.

Even if Glenn is alive, fans of The Walking Dead could have another huge twist in the future. Norman Reedus has signed on to star in a motorcycle-centered reality show for AMC, leading some to believe that his character, Daryl Dixon, will be killed off.

Cinema Blend writer Conner Schwerdtfeger noted that a huge potential spoiler for The Walking Dead could be Reedus’ departure, which would be eased by his move into the new reality show.

“Having Reedus in a new series could serve to ease the blow on those who tune in weekly to specifically see his character. Then again, they could simply be trying to achieve maximum exposure for a beloved actor on their network. It’s anyone’s guess at this stage.”

Fans who want to find out if The Walking Dead spoilers come true will apparently have to wait. The seventh episode this season — where fans will reportedly find out the fate of Glenn Rhee — doesn’t air until November 22.
