CMA Awards 2015 Complete Winners List: Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, Little Big Town Win Big

The 49th CMA Awards was held tonight at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, and was just as glamorous as ever, with Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood serving as the hosts for the eighth year in a row.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Eric Church and Little Big Town were tied for the most nominations, with five each. Church earned his first nomination for entertainer of the year, going up against the reigning entertainer Luke Bryan, along with Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, and Miranda Lambert. Church was also nominated for male vocalist, single, song, and musical event of the year for a duet with Keith Urban.

Little Big Town was nominated for Single of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Video of the Year (“Girl Crush”), Musical Event (for “Smokin’ and Drinkin’ ” with Miranda Lambert) and Album of the Year for their sixth studio effort, Pain Killer.

As expected, Little Big Town managed to win three of their five nominations, taking home Single of the Year, Song of the Year, and Vocal Group of the Year. Church, on the other hand, was only able to snag one of the awards he was nominated for: Musical Event of the Year with Keith Urban.

“This is about a 6/8 ballad about jealousy and heartache…Single of the Year! This is about being brave and being bold,” Karen Fairchild said as the group accepted the award, according to Rolling Stone. “Country radio, thanks for having the guts to play it and for all the gatekeepers for not getting in the way of following our gut and our heart, because the fans want to hear it. They want to hear it.”

Country music superstar Luke Bryan held on to his title as entertainer of the year, beating out Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, and Miranda Lambert. Newcomer, Chris Stapleton shocked the crowd when he was awarded Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year. Maddie & Tae landed their first CMA Award, winning the category Music Video of the Year for “Girl in a Country Song.”
