Jamie Dornan has certainly seen a fair share of success following his appearance in the hit erotic drama Fifty Shades of Grey. In fact, not only did the film grant him worldwide fame, but it has also led to his appearance in a number of new movies set to be released in the coming years. With that in mind, is Dornan's busy schedule and time away from his family leading to a big delay in Fifty Shades Darker?
According to the Latin Post, Dornan is currently working hard on three different films that are all scheduled to be released in the coming year. Dornan is set to star alongside A Dangerous Method's Sarah Gadon and Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul in the upcoming movie The 9th Life of Louis Drax. Additionally, Dornan will appear in Jadotville with Mark Strong, from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and Anthropoid, in which he will be starring alongside Charlotte Le Bon and Cillian Murphy.
At the same time, Dornan is also expected to present at all of the red carpet and promotional events for the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. Taken all together, Dornan's schedule is turning out to be one of the busiest in Hollywood, and it doesn't even take into account his involvement in Fifty Shades of Grey.
With so many different projects currently on his schedule, Dornan is apparently starting to feel the negative effects of his packed schedule. This has hit him hardest at home, where his wife, Amelia Warner, is getting ready to have their new baby.
With that in mind, Fashion & Style is reporting that Dornan is asking producers for some time off in order to spend more time with his family. In turn, his requests are expected to delay the release of Fifty Shades Darker by an entire year as he spends time away from the set.
Dornan and his wife currently have one child together and are preparing for the birth of a second. This is the main reason why Dornan wants to be with his family, though other reasons include the reports that his relationship with his wife has been strained as Dornan's career continues to blossom.
Meanwhile, although pre-production for the movie has finally started, the delays caused by Dornan's request to be with his family aren't the only ones the film has faced in recent months. In fact, another large delay facing the project centers on the casting of a number of pivotal characters in the highly anticipated sequel.
These characters include Jack Hyde, the main protagonist of the movie, Mrs. Robinson, Christian's former BDSM teacher, and Leila Williams, a past submissive partner of Mr. Grey. Not only have these characters not been cast yet, but producers have yet to even hire a casting director to fill the roles. That being said, a number of high profile actors and actresses have been thrown in the mix as potentials to play the parts, including Ian Somerhalder, Alexis Bledel, and Charlize Theron.
At the same time, Dakota Johnson is set to join Dornan once again and reprise her role as Anastasia Steele. Additionally, the film is set to star Eloise Mumford, Max Martini, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, and Victor Rasuk.
With all the delays potentially facing the sequel, it isn't clear if it will be released at its targeted premiere date. This is especially true if Dornan's requests to be with his family are granted and filming further delayed.
Fifty Shades Darker is scheduled to be released in February of 2017, while the third film in the franchise, Fifty Shades Free, is set to hit theaters in February of 2018.
