‘Real Housewives’ Lisa Rinna Tries To Apologize For Husband’s Swastika Shirt, But Not Really

File this under the category “What were they thinking?” Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna and her husband, Harry Hamlin, stepped out for Halloween wearing a swastika T-shirt as part of a costume. She has since, in her words, apologized, but to fans, it sounds more like an excuse than an apology.

According to the Inquisitr, the Real Housewives cast member is a loyal mother of two daughters and wife of actor Harry Hamlin. Recently, she took to the media to discuss being involved in a criminal hoax, where she was contacted with the false information that her daughters had been kidnapped. She got a phone call that said “mom, please help me!” from a voice that sounded like on of her daughters. She was panicked and took to Twitter to recount her experience and warn others about this scam to extract money from parents desperate to help their kids.

Rinna took to social media to apologize if she offended anyone, tying the words “I’m sorry” in a photo, on Instagram, according to the Huffington Post. She issued a statement where she alleged that they were just deep in character as Sid Vicious of the band the Sex Pistols and his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, who he murdered in the 1970s.

“If I hurt you ?? we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry.”

But when confronted by the press, Hamlin seemed non-plussed and somewhat dismissive.

People Magazine says that the couple were attending a Halloween tequila party when the Real Housewives husband donned a T-shirt with a large swastika, a symbol of the Nazi party, which was attended by Jewish Real Housewives star Kyle Richards. By the end of the evening, Hamlin had zipped his leather jacket over the offensive swastika.

“Hamlin has not yet personally addressed accusations that his costume was ‘ignorant’ and ‘offensive,’ and Rinna’s feed still shows a regrammed group photo posted by her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costar Kyle Richards in which Hamlin is wearing the shirt, but his jacket is zipped up to obscure the swastika.”

TMZ is saying that comments or dirty looks obviously hit their mark, because suddenly, Hamlin’s swastika was changed into a peace symbol.

“Lisa says they were just trying to be authentic… recreating a classic 1978 pic of Sid and Nancy. She says they didn’t mean to offend anybody. However, when we got them out Saturday night, Harry changed his shirt, but was hardly apologetic for the Swastika.”

But the irony of this situation is that Sid Vicious never wore a T-shirt with a swastika, but rather was photographed wearing the Russian Communist party symbol of a hammer and sickle, which is a far cry offensively from a Halloween costume with a swastika. Fans are not sure what Hamlin and his Real Housewives wife were thinking, but one would think that Rinna might have suggested another T-shirt out of Hamlin’s wardrobe for the costume.

Why do you think Harry Hamlin chose to wear a Nazi t-shirt to a Halloween party? Do you think the Real Housewives stars were making a statement?
