Harry Hamlin Sorry He Wore Swastika T-Shirt At Casamigos Halloween Party

Harry Hamlin and his wife, Lisa Rinna, may have taken things a bit too far when they attempted to copy styles and clothing worn in a photo of the late Sex Pistols’ singer Sid Vicious and his murdered girlfriend, Nancy Spungen.

Halloween is that crazy time of year when people put on costumes, attempting to out-do each other with their originality. According to Us Magazine, the pair were having fun at George Clooney’s Casamigos Halloween party in Beverly Hills.

Harry Hamlin, 64, of L.A. Law fame dressed up in the controversial red and black swastika T-shirt, along with black jeans and a black leather jacket. He also wore Sid Vicious’ trademark padlock choker and had a cigarette casually dangling from his lips.

Hamlin’s 52-year-old wife, Real Housewives of Beverley Hills star Lisa Rinna, definitely resembled Nancy in a blond wig, black jeans, and a semi-sheer black tank top over a leopard print bra. To look the part, Rinna even added similar makeup, wearing red lipstick, green eye shadow, and pink blush.

Sid Vicious, who was originally born John Simon Ritchie, wore the controversial swastika T-shirt in 1978 in the Sex Pistols mockumentary The Great Rock ‘n Roll Swindle. The Telegraph reports the shirt was designed by the punk group’s former manager, Malcolm McLaren, and was sold to a private vendor back in 2010. According to the Telegraph report, the shirt was valued at £10,000 ($15,382).

Reportedly, Vicious died from a heroin overdose at the age of 21 back in 1979, a few months after his girlfriend, Spungen, was stabbed to death in their room at the Hotel Chelsea in New York City. Initially, Vicious was arrested on suspicion of murdering Spungen but passed away before the case headed to trial.

Soon after the Halloween bash, photos of their costumes surfaced on the internet, and critics immediately headed to Twitter to harshly criticize Hamlin for his “offensive” and “ignorant” costume. Harry didn’t immediately respond on the social media.

Since then, Harry Hamlin has apologized for his gaffe, and he was seen Sunday out and about with Lisa Rinna in far more conventional wear, with Harry wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a peace sign, as pictured above.

As for Rinna, she apologized on Instagram, writing that she had her husband Harry Hamlin “were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes.”

While many people were angry with Hamlin for wearing the shirt, others on Twitter did point out that the whole idea of Halloween is to dress up as monsters and ghouls, and who is more monstrous than the Nazis?

As for the Casamigos Halloween party itself, apparently it was quite the event, with several celebs spotted enjoying themselves. According to Just Jared, other attendees were, however, wearing more conventional costumes.

Gwen Stefani went for a bloody cowgirl look with a brown braided wig and was joined by fellow Voice judge Blake Shelton, who was wearing a poncho and fake beard.

Salma Hayek and Lenny Kravitz, however, apparently opted not to wear a Halloween costume at the party, which was reportedly hosted by real estate developer Mike Meldman along with fashion guru Rachel Zalis.

California’s former first lady Maria Shriver dressed in a skin-tight black catsuit, ankle boots, black whiskers, and a nose. Continuing the cat theme, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum went to the party as matching Cats in the Hat.

Cindy Crawford, the wife of George Clooney’s business partner in Casamigos, Rande Gerber, went as a biker chick, Paris Hilton was a stunning blond Viking, and Elisabetta Canalis appeared as a soldier.

Jessica Alba was also there with husband Cash Warren. Alba went as Romy from Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, while Cash went as Maverick from Top Gun.
