Bindi Irwin’s 11-Year-Old Brother Being Considered For ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Role

Bindi Irwin’s 11-year-old brother, Robert, has been bitten by the dancing bug, and he’s in luck — the Dancing with the Stars producers have talked about offering him a role on the show. Bindi’s little bro would be DWTS’ youngest competitor ever if he was given the chance to dance with one of the series’ pros.

The Irwin family recently talked to Australia’s Today Show about Bindi’s stint on Dancing with the Stars, and Bindi’s mother, Terri Irwin, spilled the beans about Robert’s potential job offer when she said that the youngster is already being “eyed off by the producers.” The Irwins didn’t say whether Robert would actually get to compete on the show next season, but this seems highly unlikely because of his age. As the Daily Mail points out, he’s three years younger than the series’ youngest-ever celebrity competitor, Hunger Games star Willow Shields. She was 14-years-old when she signed on for the show.

Bindi Irwin’s little brother has appeared on the Dancing with the Stars: All Access YouTube show, and it’s possible that the producers are thinking about asking him to sign on as host Dominic Bowden’s sidekick. In the video below, Bowden is so impressed with how well-spoken Robert is that he actually invites the Crocodile Hunter’s son to be his co-host for the rest of Season 21.

Robert might not get to dance on DWTS anytime soon, but he’s been practicing his moves just in case. He revealed that he and Bindi Irwin’s pro wakeboarder boyfriend, Chandler Powell, actually attempted the iconic Dirty Dancing lift that helped Bindi and pro partner Derek Hough earn their first perfect score of the season.

“What most people wouldn’t be aware of is – I actually tried the lift as well,” Robert said. “So I was with Bindi’s boyfriend Chandler, we were in the pool and we thought ‘why not give it a go?’ It took us like two hours and we managed to get an okay lift in the pool.”

It’s definitely awww-worthy that Bindi Irwin’s little brother and her boyfriend are BFFs, but sometimes their friendship can make date night a bit awkward. During a recent interview with People, Terri Irwin said that she and Robert usually accompany Bindi whenever she spends time with Chandler Powell. Bindi currently only gets to see her boyfriend every two to three months because of their busy schedules, and her brother has a bad habit of stealing Chandler away whenever these rare meetings take place.

“We’ll be on a picnic, and the boys will go off exploring together, and Bindi’s stuck with me, going, ‘Well, I wonder when they’re going to be back?'” Terri said.

Competing on Dancing with the Stars might keep Bindi Irwin from getting to spend as much time with her boyfriend as she would like to, but the show has helped the Aussie wildlife advocate become a huge star in America. The 17-year-old was included on Time magazine’s list of the Most Influential Teens of 2015 alongside the likes of first daughter Malia Obama, activist Malala Yousafzai, Modern Family star Ariel Winter, singer Shawn Mendes, and Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams. Bindi told the Today Show hosts that she would like to a little more work in the States after her stint on Dancing with the Stars, but she’ll always be an Aussie girl at heart.
