Hillary Clinton Meets Little Girl Who Dressed Up As Her For Halloween
Most kids want to dress up as their heroes for Halloween. The same can be said of Sullivan Wood, a little girl from Charleston, S.C., but instead of dressing up as a Disney princess or a superhero or a cartoon character like most girls her age, she suited up as her favorite politician – none other than the current Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, TIME reports.
Wearing a smart pantsuit and carrying a “Senator’s Briefcase,” the four-year-old little girl sure has got the same swag as the former Secretary of State. But little did Sullivan know that she was going to meet up with her idol when she went with her family to Clinton’s rally in Charleston.
According to Buzzfeed, Clinton’s campaign aides spotted the little girl among the crowd and shortly invited her and her family backstage for a special surprise. And to say that this adorable little girl was surprised is an understatement.
Sullivan was pretty shy at first, running towards her mother after seeing a beaming Hillary Clinton standing right in front of her. The girl’s mother steps in and good-naturedly tells her, “Give her a hug!” Sullivan, recovering from her initial shock, finally walks towards Hillary wearing a big smile that can melt anyone’s heart. Hillary, visibly charmed, stands and crouches next to her for a photo. As the cameras started clicking, Hillary said, “She looks like a future president!” Aww!
“Sullivan thinks she’ll be the next female President after Hillary Clinton,” the little girl’s mom Jennifer Jones-Wood told Buzzfeed News. “She loves her. We campaign together for Hillary and she even has a poster of her above her bed.”
And look, Hillary Clinton herself shared a photo of their fateful encounter on her official Facebook page! Her caption went, “Happy Halloween!” I won’t mind seeing that little girl taking over the White House soon!
Jones-Wood, the girl’s mother, shared the video of Sullivan’s encounter with Hillary on her Facebook account.
It appears that lots of little girls have a fondness for Hillary. Just last October 20, a 12-year-old girl who identifies herself as a “little feminist” wrote Hillary a letter to offer support for her campaign. The girl, Olivia by name, said in her letter that she is “completely willing” to help out, the MSNBC reports.
“I bet I would be the youngest member of your campaign,” Olivia wrote.
“I am a little feminist growing up to help all women with equal rights.”
In the letter, little Olivia told Hillary that she has two fathers and a twin brother, and that she attends a school for those with learning disabilities on account of her dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
“The school is fairly expensive and I wish that there were more public schools that can help kids with Dyslexia like me.”
Olivia also said in the letter that she hopes Hillary will become the first woman president, even adding that she is willing to follow in her footsteps.
Hillary Clinton posted the letter of the little girl along with her response on her official campaign website.
“Thank you for writing to me; it put a smile on my face,” Clinton wrote in response. “Please know that I join your dads in cheering you on for great success. Keep up the great work, always care deeply about what you believe in, and never stop reaching for the stars!”
It remains to be seen whether Hillary Clinton will be the next US president, but if she’s able to inspire little girls to be like her, then she’s clearly doing something right to make it happen.
