It is often said that every person has a twin somewhere in the world, but for many people, this has been difficult to substantiate. However, it seems that actor Leonardo DiCaprio's twin has been found, and his name is Konrad Annerud, a 21-year-old Swedish model. As reported by Today, many who see Annerud say he is the spitting image of a young Leonardo DiCaprio and he is often mistaken for the Inception actor.
Upon seeing Annerud, it becomes evident that this young man bears a striking resemblance to the star of the romantic film Titanic, to the extent that whenever he goes out, he causes the public to believe he is an actual Hollywood celebrity. Konrad, who works as a bartender, recently spoke with the Swedish website Nyheter about his likeness to the award-winning actor.
"It can become a bit hard sometimes when people call me Leo instead of my name," he was quoted as saying. "But it's fun to be like him. He's handsome."
Although he mostly enjoys the attention, Konrad says the experience of being so popular can be draining.
"It's much worse when I am abroad," he said. "When I was in Italy last summer, I kind of felt like I wanted to shave off my hair. It was chaos. People shouted 'Leo!' and wanted to take pictures all the time. It was the craziest thing I ever experienced."
Konrad Annerud has become somewhat of a celebrity on Instagram, thanks to his uncanny resemblance to the actor, and as of the time of this report, his Instagram account has ballooned to over 150,000 followers, who admire his poses with a leather jacket and various shirtless images. Konrad not only closely resembles Leonardo's face, he also bears the same style of clothing characteristic of the actor and the haircut that he sported in the early 90's.Konrad admits that his likeness has some drawbacks: for example, he considered cutting his hair off after a recent visit to Italy in which he was overwhelmed by the harassment of some fans.
"It was very chaotic. People were yelling 'Leo' and wanted to take photos with me all the time," Annerud recalled.
DiCaprio, who is one of the most eligible bachelors in Hollywood, has yet to address the craze surrounding his young doppelgänger.
Leonardo DiCaprio is busy preparing for the release of his latest film, The Revenant, which has a December 25 release date. According to IMDb, the film is set in the 1820s, and Leo plays the role of a frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who sets out on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after a bear mauling.
It is safe to say that the Wolf On Wall Street star is one of the most famous actors in the world; however, he has yet to win the coveted golden statue. However, his latest film might change that. According to a report from Franchise Herald, Leo, who had been nominated for and lost four nominations in the past, is running neck-to-neck with Michael Fassbender for the category.
At the start of awards season, Leonardo DiCaprio was the frontrunner to win Best Actor according to several Oscar experts drawn from major media outlets such as Yahoo, Variety, and USA Today. He was tipped to finally win an Oscar for his performance, the report states. The publication claims that the trailer for The Revenant managed to convinced six critics to award the Best Actor category to DiCaprio. Michael Fassbender, on the other hand has 10 supporters.
