Billy Bob Thornton Rushed To Hospital For Treatment After Car Accident, Plus ‘Bad Santa 2’

Billy Bob Thornton was rushed to the hospital on October 30 after a car accident that happened in West Hollywood.

Thornton, 60-years-old, was a passenger in a car that hit another vehicle in, as his publicist described, a “minor accident on Friday morning.” After the incident, according to Metro UK, Billy Bob was complaining of a head injury, and he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for examination and treatment. His injuries, however, seem to be minor, as he was able to check out of he hospital on the same day. As of this publishing, there is no word on what type of injury the actor sustained.

The same day of the accident, Billy Bob was able to go back to the filming of his new movie.

According to the Daily Mail UK, Billy Bob Thornton was all smiles on Monday as he attended the premiere of his latest film to hit the big screen, Our Brand is Crisis. The drama film, which also stars Sandra Bullock, is a fictional account of a documentary of the same name, which was released in 2005.

Billy Bob walked the red carpet alongside his wife, make-up artist Connie Angland, wearing a simple, black tank top, jeans, and stylish boots. Connie, on the other hand, wore a black strapless dress.

It seems Billy Bob Thornton has his hands full these days. According to reports, he is currently working on a project for Amazon, a legal drama entitled, Trial. In addition, as reported by Rolling Stone, Billy Bob will be reprising his role as Santa Claus in Bad Santa 2. The movie is a sequel to the first installment, which released back in 2003.

However, fans of Bad Santa will have to wait another year to see Billy Bob in one of his most recognizable characters, as the movie will be released during the 2016 holiday season.

The sequel of Bad Santa isn’t surprising news. As Billy Bob said in 2010, the sequel has been in the development phase, but it was quite difficult to lock down the script. In an interview, with The Telegraph, Thornton talked about the progress.

“We’ve been through three or four drafts but we’re getting real close. Then there’s the business dealings to sort out, all the stuff I don’t understand. But one way or another, the sequel will happen and the idea is to shoot it next year. We know we’ll never beat the first film, but we’ll get as close as we can.”

It may have taken more than a year since Billy Bob released that statement, but fans can now finally rejoice knowing that a sequel is in the works.

In Bad Santa, Thornton plays a thief who dresses up as Santa Claus every year during the holiday season to rob the shopping malls at night. Bad Santa has an accomplice in Marcus, who dresses up as an elf. Bad Santa raked in $76.5 million at the box office in 2003.

As of this publishing, there is no news of what kind of mischief Bad Santa will be in this time around. Principal photography for the sequel will reportedly begin in January 2016.
